Damn, would love to see the video of Swilling making the final free throw. Hope we handle business in the finals.

Scotlandville will be tough, but the Saders can handle them!

Just saw that the guard from hammond had 9 points and 10 turnovers including one that led to the free throws by pat swilling. Dude must be sick, it can be rough in high school.

Scotlandville has two really good players. JJ Thomas (PG) and Steele Davis who looks to be a beast and the best junior in the state judging by his offers. Gonna need the best of the season from Brother Martin saturday.

Remember when you said BM would never be as good as the BM teams that won state a few years ago? Looks like they have a pretty good shot at it.

I agree with Lester...they did catch some lucky breaks

they got the #1 seed @ Brother Martin because of the way the LHSAA runs the playoffs...they wouldn't have won that game if it was played on the road

Those teams would run this team out of the fricking gym. There is no comparing the teams. The 2005 team finished ranked fourth in the nation according to USA today. This team has 2 reliable scorers. The 05 team had 6 that could score when needed. 05 wins by at least 20, depending on how long the back-up white boys play.

Thoughts on the game:
Swilling played in foul trouble the entire game. When he was in he played well.

Rillieux played like a man on a mission. When PSwill got into foul trouble and had to sit, Shane stepped up. He looked like the player that wanted it the most on either side.

Gray played his best game of the season when his team needed it most.

1st Quarter:
Swilling picked up a pair of fouls early and was forced to sit on the bench for most of the quarter. BM weathered the storm and led 21-14 after one.

2nd Quarter:
Hammond is a fast team. Fast break points killed BM with Swilling out in the second quarter. Thompson inserted Swilling into the quarter a minute in. But he picked up his third foul, two minutes later and was forced to return to the bench. Wanna say Hammond started out on a 12-0 run or something like that. BM didn't make a hoop until about 3:25 left in the quarter. The Tors outscored BM 25-9 in the quarter. Hammond led 39-30 at half.

3rd Quarter:
Hammond held its biggest lead, at 14 with about 5:30 left. BM fought, scratched, and clawed back into it, despite Swilling picking up a fourth foul. Hammond led 50-47.

4th Quarter:
Where championships are won and were legends are made. Swilling played the last 6 minutes or so. Hammond looked like it wanted it to begin the quarter, but got sloppy towards the end, allowing Brother Martin the opening it needed. The Crusaders seized the opening and ran with it. Took their first lead since about the 5 minute mark in the second with about a minute forty left thanks to a pair of free throws from Shane. BM made the plays it needed to make, while Hammond did not.

Great high school game.

Hats off to Hammond for not only a great effort tonight but for their great season.

I agree with this. Hammond had that game won but they beat themselves with the turnovers and allowed BM back into the game in the 4th quarter. All they had to do was take care of the ball and work it around for a good shot during each possession. Instead, they played sloppy down the strectch and allowed BM to take that game from them.

Brother Martin loves the Cajundome. Anyone know what their record is in the building?

BTW....can't believe Lafayette High gave this team a scare in Round 1.
