The NFL is a small league (in the grand scheme of things) they likely had already made a decision about who they wanted to hire before they interviewed anyone, it's absurd that they have to fake interview a minority just to satisfy a ridiculous rule.

You would have a point if they didn’t also interview Dan Quinn and Lou Anarumo. So either there were other candidates or the giants are genuinely wasting some peoples time for shits and giggles or the whole process was just for show regardless

Well, in Flores’s opinion you prove it by showing a text message from BB before your interview.

A judge will ultimately decide whether that is enough. Thus, the lawsuit

Probably, based on what we know now.

But at the same time the giants are going to have to come to court with more than “we didn’t officially hire Brian Daboll at that point”

My point is that until it's official, how do you prove it.

Can they subpoena phone records/texts, things like that?

If it's out there and they can dig into things like that, given BB's text, I imagine they'll be able to prove it.

CONSPIRACY THEORY...

Belichick knew what he was doing and this is payback on the NFL for Deflategate.

There’s more than one kind of sham interview to be had. Lot of these interviews are put together by agents to drive up interest for their clients and agents represent GMs as well so it’s all a big game of chess really

I have no idea what legal standing they would have to do this. Even if they broke the Rooney Rule, that isn't a law. I feel like this suit is likely to just get dismissed.

Your numbers don’t make sense once you show the player pool being 70%. The player pool percentage only show that it should be more Black Americans in leadership roles.

“Tank for Tua” appeared to be real in Miami. They started trading away key pieces prior to the 2019 season, and continued gutting the team up until the trade deadline.

Flores' complaint is that someone was already pre-selected for the job. That isn't illegal. And, it shouldn't really be unexpected if someone happens to hit a homerun in an interview before you have yours.

I’ve cancelled scheduled interviews because I found my candidate in earlier interviews.

Yea obviously racism is a hot topic on here but I think the huge legal issue is gonna be the alleged offered payment to tank. That is a catastrophic blow to the NFLs legitimacy, especially with how popular gambling is.

I mean frick the colts as well but deflate gate falls 99 percent at the feet of the NFL from start to finish

But that theory makes absolutely no sense either way

Flores' case is based on the Rooney Rule sure, but in a real-world context, there are lot of jobs require you post an opening and go through the hiring process when the employer already has a candidate in mind. A lot of the times this can be when hiring an internal candidate for the role.

In general, I'm so tired of the race baiting that goes on in this world. I know of at least two jobs I wasn't hired for in large part of my race (I'm white). Sure, there might be some unconscious biases against black people at times, but I also am very confident there are times when black people are hired over more qualified white people for a diversity quota.

And, by the way, Stephen Ross should be forced to give up the team. What he told Flores was textbook fixing and given the NFL's link with gambling now, should be a HUGE no-no.

This is obviously dependent on a few things but even if I do this, if I have/had strong candidates/resumes, I'd still interview them just for future purposes. If they crush it, I'd call them back to see if they were still looking next time they had an interview.

Yeah but those jobs don’t also have rule that specify that they cannot do that and don’t have contracts with those employees that specifically outline those hiring requirements.

Flores may or may not have a case, but comparing it to your regular HR interview doesn’t make any sense.
