Bregman’s walk to K ratio.

Alex leads the AL with 112 walks with only 81 k’s. Which is +31. Santana is the only other AL player that I can find with a more walks than k’s and he is +3.
Also, the Astros have 5 of the top 10 players with the FEWEST strikeouts in the AL.

I hope LSU hires their hitting coach.

His approach/plate discipline is incredible. Best in MLB IMO

Differential, not ratio

It seemed like he never swung at a bad pitch st LSU.
He also had the worst luck of any hitter I’ve ever seen at LSU. So many balls were squared up right at defenders. Had he got to play with the new ball, his numbers would have skyrocketed.

He’s incredible at laying off pitcher’s pitches that are strikes early in the count because he knows he can’t do damage with them and he knows he can make contact with most anything at 2 strikes if it gets there.

That stat makes you wonder about the approaches of today's hitters. Gary Sheffield had more walks than strikeouts for 12 straight years from 1994-2005. Chipper Jones had more walks than strikeouts in 13 out of his 18 seasons. And then there were guys like Albert Pujols and Frank Thomas and Todd Helton who were only striking out 60 or 70 times a year while still maintaining a healthy walk rate. Yeah, it's hard to have more walks than strikeout but it shouldn't be that rare where only one or two players are doing it over the course of an entire season.

I'm almost positive Mike Trout has more BB's than K's as well.

Nope. As good as Trout is, hes always been high strikeout guy. Hes at -10 this year. Best hes done was -2 last season.

He played with the new ball in 2015.

Agreed, but sometimes he took good pitches as a result.
I go back and forth on how much discipline I want out of a hitter. Guys like Votto are a good example of someone that may actually benefit form being more aggressive.

Ah....my mistake

quote:Yet he is 5th on team in strikeouts. Gurriel 63, Reddick 63 Brantley 65 and Altuve 80 of those 4 Brantley has the most walks at 51. Of those 5 players Altuve and Gurriel are the only "free swingers".

not to mention Tony Gwynn who never struck out more than 40 times in a season..hell the dude would not only have more walks than strikeouts but more stolen bases than strikeouts

One of the best hitters in the game.

MLBTV said last night he leads the majors in fewest swings on pitches outside the strikezone

How many players even have more walks than k’s at the moment? Bregman is currently at a +36 differential which is absolutely ridiculous.

You can tell Bregs sees the ball really well no matter who is pitching. I get the same vibe from Yordan Alvarez just with more power
