ha, you act like solid SS's are a dime a dozen. Rather, it's quite the opposite. Good SS's are coveted and gaurded closely. Yet we have managed to give away 2 of them in the last few years.

Wow, I can't believe this. The Braves got had.

This trade is beyond stupid. Yunel makes 415k and plays one helluva defense. We lead the league in double plays turned and I would take my chances with Yunel at the plate being a career .291 hitter...Couldve gotten so much more than a mediocre SS who is playing reasonably well. I think this is very similar to the McLouth trade. Mediocre player who played well for a bit and then will come back down to normal...

yunel is a headcase and hasn't produced. If AG produces like he has been, the team is improved dramatically for the second half. If that helps stave off a Mets or Phillies run, I'm all for it.

When is enough, enough? Are we really that upset about losing Yunel for the future? Really? I was a huge fan from his first year but it was always a "and wait till he grows the frick up" kind of thing. He never did.
At worst we got a guy who's actually a real life professional, who's a plus defensive shortstop, and who can hit the ball out from time to time. And we got rid of JoJo. And we got rid of Yunel.
I'm not thrilled exactly, the long term of this trade won't be decided till we figure out who we can sign in the offseason but obviously Frank and Bobby thought he was enough of a frickup that we could do better going forward.

Any possible way this trade gets broken up?

Not really. Yunel doesn't have much of a future in MLB unless he can get his head out of his arse. Even when he is playing well, he is basically a lazy malcontent. Think Manny Ramirez with 1/5 the talent. I think the dozen or so ground balls he didn't run out the last couple of weeks finally pushed the whole organization over the edge with him.

I'm not sure about the future, obviously we were just sick of Yunel and assume we can find a more permanent shortstop in the offseason but we are not going to all of a sudden start falling from the sky because we lost fricking Yunel Escobar.
dude, where did i say that we would fall, i CLEARLY posted that we wouldnt fall bc weve put ourselves in first with him in the lineup, so go to a fricking reading comp class. the point is why trade him away for a guy who has clearly peaked and has shite numbers, who is 33, and who will not be coming back, and we have no replacement in the farm

not really, mclouth put up a 30-30 year, that is not just playing well for a bit
that was just a case of a guy just falling off the face of the earth. there was no way to tell that was going to happen
Posted on 7/14/10 at 12:13 pm to Ron Mexico
I think Nate gets his head out of his arse in the 2nd half of the year. But thats just me.

Chill man, I can't remember any point in my post where I said Ron Mexico said we were going to fall apart. It was SwampDonks. I should have specified.
Like I said I'm not thrilled, I'm just not nearly as upset as some people. I just got sick of Yunel, he's a loser, plain and simple. He's the dreaded combination of being dumb, lazy and having a chip on his shoulder.
It would be nice to know who's supposed to be available in the offseason. Obviously it leaves us with a hole that we have to fill.
