don’t see how most can afford to give a whole football team free tuition and not have a complete revolt from the parents of the tuition paying kids.

The trick is to have as competitive a team as possible without giving anyone free tuition

But from what I heard Shaw’s enrollment is going up because they’re winning again. Knowing the history someone is probably getting a deal and no one’s revolting

The split is irrelevant to today’s game… Catholic was transformed when they decided to invest in the program. They got better coaches, started to reach out to more kids and to run the program more akin to a College program.. do they recruit.. absolutely but they recruit every student who attend, they have a tuition assistance program that goes for some athletes and many non athletes. When they cross he line, they have and should be punished but the amount of jealousy directed towards that school is pretty telling.

Bigger waiting list, older than nearly every other school in NO,

I can name 25 really good players from last 10 years that had no shot at getting in there and ie em they did wouldn’t last long.

You just conveniently left Zachary and Central off your list.

I can’t vouch for Zachary, but Central 100% does not recruit. Parents have to bring in lease/rental/home ownership papers, electric, and water bills proving they live in the district to even get their kids enrolled there. They don’t make exceptions if the kid is a stud athlete.

They fought EBR planning and zoning bc they wanted to build a huge 500+ home neighborhood in between Baker/NBR that fell inside Central school district that was gonna be cookie cutter homes/section 8. They fought them bc the school system couldn’t handle the added students it would bring.

Oh so let me see if I understand you correctly. The coach that played for a school that supposedly recruits, coached under the Godfather of local recruiting, and was the head coach of the school that according to this board is biggest recruiting factory in town no longer recruits!

Sure Jan!

Karr athletes>>>>>>>ASH athletes.

Agree, but ASH played their worst game of the year at the absolute worst time. They were down 21-0 before the end of the first quarter. They played terribly in just about every phase of the game. Considering how Karr barely squeaked by a good, but not great, Catholic team, I really thought the Trojans had a chance to win. It was still a helluva season for them and I look forward to seeing JT Lindsey in a Tiger uniform next fall.

Yes but other than that 2 point victory over Catholic BR, Karr had beaten every team on their schedule by an average of around 30 pts. Thats pretty impressive in 5A ball.

To be fair the enrollment increase does have a correlation with winning - Hank in his post conference said as much and that they expect it to increase more with the championship. However, I would say that the bulk of the change has more to do with a change in leadership. There is a new priest running the school (the one willing to hire Hank back) and his personal attention and dedicated efforts to the culture of the school (I think) is a bigger determining factor.

Having someone come in and knows what it means to be the “Westbank” school and not just an archdiocesan school matters a ton in that community. And I think that is the foundation upon which all the rest of the success is coming from.

Seriously, if you think Hank has a following in that community go talk to the parents and students about what they think of that priest it’s astounding how much people are buying into his vision and desire for the school.

I was in the dome and from where I sat Karr was miles ahead of ASH from a talent and speed standpoint. #90 from Karr single handedly destroyed the inside run game and Karr's speed rallied to the perimeter runs.

Ruston looked like a team that was not prepared to play, they fell behind early and they quit. Central defense was impressive! Especially the DL.

Catholic never won a state football championship until the split.
And? They got a shite ton better

Let’s see who really had benefited from the split

2024 public champ central- lost to Catholic

2020 public champ Acadiana-lost to Catholic

2018 public champ Zachary -lost to Catholic

2017 public champ Zachary- lost to Catholic

See a theme?

Seems like only a select few of baws (most likely from Winnfield, LA) support the split.
