This thread has shown that the MSB doesn’t know what being an athlete entails.

Deion ran 4.19 baw and Bo didn’t run 4.13.

According to ESPN: ESPN
Bo Jackson ran a 4.13 40-yard dash Bo Jackson joins His & Hers to share the story of when he ran the 40-yard dash at the 1986 NFL combine. Jackson says that he ran it in 4.13 seconds, not the previously recorded 4.12 time.
Y’all listen to Deon’s marketing to much…
There are legends behind many of the fastest 40 yard dash marks. Unsurprisingly, the sensationalism around Deion Sanders matches his legendary reputation. Sanders set the NFL Combine record for the 40-yard dash in 1989, breaking the mark in ‘Primetime’ fashion. he walked into the stadium and ran a 4.27 in front of teams without stretching and then sprinted out of the building and left. The rest is history.

It is funny how Michael Jordan helps the Bo Jackson myth.
They pretty much had the exact same marketing campaigns from Nike. The same big push.
The difference is that one was Michael Jordan and the other was Bo Jackson. And the net result is a message board poster claiming Bo Jackson's inevitable HOF career. And then trying to justify the myths when anyone not gullible enough can look at real games and real data and see how much work the media pushed on the sports world.

Sanders was one of the worst tacklers I've ever seen

He went from one of the worst tacklers to one of the weirdest. The end of his career, he didn't "miss tackles". But there was nothing conventional or by the book about it at all.
I can agree that for the majority of his career, he was flat out poor at tackling.
Bo is the better athlete.
But there is no running advantage for Bo. Anyone continuing that delusion hasn't watched Deion run.

Bo Jackson by a lot. 5 tool baseball player and his size and speed in football was incredible.

Bo could have probably played any pro sport that he wanted, including hockey.
As someone esle said, he was (is) a freak when it came to athleticism

Bo Jackson vs Prime
I'm not asking this to be snarky, but when did we start calling him Prime? Prime Time was the nickname did Prime start recently or is it just internet shorthand?

It is more than fair.
Deion asks to be called Coach Prime. I'm surprised he didn't ask to be called Optimus Prime.
He's an attention whore.

Easily Bo. Deion benefits from his flamboyant style and telling everyone how great he was and then people start to believe it. Similar to Muhammad Ali. Bo was a much better baseball player and Deion had a glaring hole in his tackling game. Deion was very quick/fast but Bo was a freak all around athlete.
Better question is Bo vs Dave Winfield . Winfield was drafted in all 3 pro sports and I found out today he also threw a 15 strikeout game in the cws.

No offense. But Deion's self promotion pales in comparison to the millions of dollars spent by Nike promoting "Bo Knows".
Madison Ave is a lot smarter and a lot more influential than Deion.
I agree that Bo is the better athlete.
But the myth of Bo Jackson is bigger than the man.

I think that is a great question. It probably still leans to Bo. But who knows. Winfield was able to recover from his injuries and maintain a long, productive career. But then again... baseball.

That was simply an ad campaign and it was like 35 years ago. Ask anyone under the age of 30 if they know about that camapgin or if they've ever even heard that phrase and most likely won't. I guarantee you those same 20-30 year olds will definitely know "coach prime" (cringe) based on his contstant 3rd person self-hype and his currently being in TV commercials and coaching.

It was virtually the same promotion given to Michael Jordan.
It wasn't just "an ad campaign". It was arguably the 2nd largest campaign in the history of Nike.

The question is about athleticism.
Deion's self promotion attracts a certain type. But it also detracts a certain type as well. It isn't hard to dislike deion.
Madison Ave campaigns typically didn't have that divisive effect (until Kap).
But the thread is about athleticism. Your argument about 20 year olds doesn't mean anything in the debate of who was the better athlete.

Right the main question was. But then someone above earlier on the page mentioned perception which is a good point. Some people, especially today's youth, would be more susceptible to have their opinion swayed not by actual facts but by bravado and grandeur and boasts. I haven't seen or heard bo jackson in a damn decade but I hear about deion sanders everyday. That kinda thing could definitely sway someone to think the answer is deion when in reality it's pretty solidly bo.
