In consumer theory, an inferior good is a good that decreases in demand when consumer income rises.

From the Wiki on "Inferior Good": LINK

This confirms what many of us have been saying all along. Baseball is now primarily a white trash sport. Sure, there are exceptions to the rule, but by and large this is true. Only the same crowd who could enjoy watching cars go round and round a track for hours could enjoy this awful, boring sport.

Baseball is clearly no longer the biggest sport in America but it is firmly grasped onto the number 2 spot. Baseball isn't going anywhere.

Wait, hold on. A white trash sport? Maybe on the south side of Chicago, but not everywhere.

Is baseball boring? To the average fan, yes. Is it too long of a time to sit in a park and spit sunflower seeds into a cup? Probably so. Is the season too long? Probably so.

You can think what you want, but if I'm being honest, calling it a white trash sport is really one of the things I'd never think to call it.

No one said it was going anywhere.

No. It's a game for braindead conservative white men who are desperate to hold on stale traditions.

Yes, yes, I'd much rather watch 2 hand touch football that is called the NFL.

Actually, football is a white trash sport. It's a far more popular sport than baseball among poor white people in the south. And the main reason why football is the most popular sport in the country is due to its immense popularity among white conservatives who are the majority in this country.

I'd say it's becoming more of an elitist sport in the U.S. than white trash. $300 little league bats and elite travel teams make it tough to make it as a poor kid. Obviously you can succeed without all of that crap, look at Latin players, that's why I said in the U.S.

THIS.

Money wise, baseball is just fine and that's what counts. Sure, you don't have the huge crowds like football, but 81 home games of crowds of paid attendance of 14k for the bottom teams up to 40k+ for the best teams = a shitpile of money.

So, do the math. (I'm going REALLY cheap here)

14k per game for 81 games= 1,134,000 fans per year.
Say the average person of those 14k spends $50 (tix plus concessions)= $56,700,000. And that's assuming really cheap prices because I guarantee between parking passes, concessions, and tickets most people are spending more than $50 per person.
That doesn't include tv money or merchandise money. PLus, those teams who average 14k, usually have a payroll of shite.

Hell, running the numbers for a team like the cubs who averages around 36k make them $145.8 million per year.

Also, it's ironic how the OP calls MLB a "white trash sport" when he's a fan of MMA, a sport that has a huge following among white nationalist groups.

As a fan of NASCAR, I can say that this is patently untrue

Latin players and rich white players make up the majority of baseball players these days. Blacks just play basketball and football for the most part.

WHite trash cheers on the blacks who play football. Baseball fans tend to be these groups:

1. Rich or conservative whites (majority in the country)
2. Hispanics-----the fastest growing group in the USA
3. Suburbanites who want something to do and go to a ball game.

With those 3 fanbases and the fact that baseball teams really only need to average a little over 22k per game to make a lot of money, I'd say baseball is solidly in 2nd place, the NBA will probably be no more in the future, and the NFL with all the pussified rules will start to alienate its fanbase which equals good news for baseball.
