That was the NFL’s policy for decade before they change it in the early 2010s.

College teams aren’t on the field. The band plays the national anthem before the teams run on to the field. Can’t believe that has to be explained to some.

Staying in the locker room means they don't have to deal with who wants to stand and who wants to kneel. They just take it all away.
