Didn't they take Drexler the year before though? Wasn't he mainly a 2 guard for them?

Yep. They didn't need to draft MJ, they already had a 2 guard

Not to mention the fact that they had a top 50 all-time, HOF, 10 time all star who played the same position as Jordan on the team already.

Yeah, people that act like the Bowie over MJ pick is stupid have no clue. Clyde was already their 2 guard, and Bowie lied. I don't blame the blazers at all

How about the Saints returning a kickoff at the end of a game and then the kicker (Carney?) missing the extra point to tie. I know it wasn't a big game, but man what a frick up!

I know Drexler was a little taller than Jordan but I think he was pretty lean. Would've been crazy to have him at the 3 and Jordan at SG. Although who knows if they would've each been as great as they were. Clyde was maybe the guy I was most happy to see win a title late in his career in any sport.

Buckner didn't leave himself in the game in a situation that he normally didn't play in.

For some reason this decision has disappeared from the collective sports memory. You still hear about Bill Buckner, but IMHO Osborne was far worse. It wasn't an instinctive play in the middle of a game, but a conscious, thought-out decision

it was just alluded to, but Buckner shouldn't have been in the game. They always brought in Dave Stapleton as a defensive replacement at the end of the game. That was the only game he didn't go in, because the manager thought Buckner deserved to be on the field to celebrate.

THAT was the screwup.

This, plus even if Buckner had gotten control of the ball, Mookie Wilson still could have outran him to first base.

McNamara also removing Clemens and putting in Schiraldi/Stanley was stupid as well.

I looked up all of the SBs that they've played in and couldn't find anything about Ray Finkle. Needless to say, I've never seen Ace Ventura.

My nominee: Tom Osborne in the 1983's Orange Bowl/NC game Nebraska vs. Miami

All he has to do is kick an XP to tie the game, which win the national title for Nebraska.

Instead he goes for 2, fails, loses 31-30 and Miami wins the NC.
