Mookie Betts and Machado signed thru 2032 and 2033. Both batting sub .180

Mookie has only played in like 20 games this year and his underlying numbers are good. Think we will see those start to normalize as he gets more ABs

I think the decline in power is very real. His numbers won’t be anywhere near this bad at the end of the year but I don’t know how many .450+ slug type seasons he has left in him

If he can capably play a middle infield spot for a few years that will make the deal age a lot better though

Think that's fair. His bat speed numbers aren't great but he still has terrific bat to ball skills and typically barrels stuff up which should at least keep him a decently valuable offensive player. I have more reservations about his ability to maintain at short but we will see.

But yes his days of 25/30 homers and 150 wRC+ year in year out are probably over

I'd go with Murakami as most surprising player so far, but you might getting too accustomed to the fact that Ohtani is hitting and pitching (0.73 ERA).
Ben Rice with a better OPS than Judge is a surprise.
Waldschmidt is probably under the radar of a lot of people. He may end up being a surprise to many at some point. I was so impressed by him when he was with Kentucky. Not a surprise to me.

Walker finally figuring out how to hit at a high level is something I never thought would happen.

Braves being a powerhouse is a pleasant surprise (although they regressed this weekend; let's hope that ends today).

Really shocked at how bad the Mets are, but then again, that franchise is cursed.

Ben Rice is the answer. I tried trading for him on opening day and the guy in my league wouldn't move him.

I expected the Tigers to dominate that division but their injuries are insane.

Think at one point they were missing four starting pitchers including Skubal.

I was optimistic that Misiorowski would be better than last year but never expected the dominance he’s shown over the last month.

Brewers pitching lab is probably the best in the majors. I’ve always respected that org for always punching above their weight in such a small market.

Michael Harris finally playing nearly up to his full potential.

He has been carrying our offense near single handily since Drake went down. Is hitting over .300, is 4th in MLB in hard hit %, in the 93rd percentile in barrel rate, 96th percentile in xSLG, arguably the best defensive center fielder in baseball.

It looked like Olson would be the Braves MVP candidate early, but imo Harris will make a run at MVP especially if they stop hitting him 7th against lefties which is dumb since he has basically even splits. He won’t get enough RBI opportunities for a run at it unless they stick him at 4th in the order nightly where he should be

How a rookie could be the biggest douche bag on a team chock full of them.
