Show them the chicks dig the long ball commercial
Also take him to a major league game, preferably a stadium that will be full

Buy them a trashcan and a buzzer.

Does the kid have any players they like? Maybe buy them something to get autographed. Players are 9 times out of 10 really friendly to kids. I used to love doing that when I was a kid.

Live games are best way to do it. Try to explain the game situations to them as they come up in order to train them on how to stay interested throughout the game. Number one thing is probably to get them latched onto a certain team as a fan.

Guy said to take them to a full stadium, this does not compute.

OP
If you have a MLB team within reach, contact them and explain what you are doing. Might be able to snag some group seats at a great deal. I know for a fact that Cardinals have half of 2 sections in box seats that they give/sell to baseball teams, so Coaches can bring whole team to watch it together.

I like the Giants, but a college baseball game is cheaper

How young? Baseball is a pretty boring game to watch for a kid that doesn't know much about it.
If we're talking 5-8 years old then I would get out in the yard with a bat and a whiffle ball (or tennis ball) and lob him up some meatballs. The most fun part about the game is hitting a ball solid. Have a homerun derby, whiffle ball game, whatever. Just get a bat in his hand and lob some pitches into the strike zone

Minor league games can snag kids interest. They are always trying to entertain the younger kids/kids, so they enjoy the night out as much as parents do.
