Royals- defending World Series champs, they seem to do better than projections recently

Red Sox- Huge addition of Price and Kimbrel, will Hanley and Pablo hit enough for them to make it

Blue Jays- Full season of Tulo plus Bautista, Donaldson, and Encarnacion should be a dangerous offense but will they have enough pitching

Detroit- Added Zimmerman and Upton, will that add enough to Sanchez/Verlander and Miggy?

Astros- full year of Correa, will Dallas improve?

Cardinals- Will health help this club? What to expect from Wainwright, Molina, and Holiday

Mets- Great young pitching can they produce an encore, will they have enough hitting

Nationals- Can they stay healthy? What will Harper do for an encore?

Cubs- added Heyward and Lackey to go along with one of best young clubs. Will their depth be enough, will the young kids continue to develop

Dodgers- Still have the best pitcher in baseball, will they have a second starter emerge?

Giants- it is an even year and they added a lot to the rotation. Will Belt stay healthy with Pence?

the astros will be lights out imo. The addition of fister is solid if he can regroup and regain his old form. Ken Giles should free us up to have a solid 7-8-9 in will harris, gregerson, and giles....assuming gregerson doesn't take this demotion too seriously. Tony Sipp is another solid reliever in the pen. Hopefully the ghosts of the 2015 meltdown are done. I think Correa,Springer,Gattis, and Gomez all hit 30+ homers.....gomez is in a contract year, im sure he goes back to his peak form to land one more monster deal. I say .275-30-90-25 steals.

Im glad we dumped carter, we still have valbuena and gattis, when we get those 2 out of the everyday lineup I think we do alot better. I still cry thinking about how we passed on kris bryant at #1 to take appel. I could just see bryant and correa in the middle of our lineup for the next decade smashing balls over that short porch.

didn't make enough sexy offseason moves I guess. but if some of those smaller, incremental moves can bear fruit, should be another fun year!

stinks being in the NL Central at the moment though.

Oh what a time to be alive..It's weird not being able to discuss the Braves as possible NL East champions. Instead we have to rot away at the bottom of the division for the next year or so.

My vote for the best team this year (so far) is the Cubs. They have some great pitching, and they added a couple of very solid pieces without losing much in free agency.

Pirates could be included but I feel losing AJ, Alvarez, and having Kang off of injury hurts them early on which limits them being the best in baseball.

Right now Jaso and Freese are manning the hot corners and that is not a good sign.

Defense will be improved without Alvarez who may be the worst corner infielder in the major leagues. Kang will play 3rd when healthy, Jaso (OBP machine) will play first and Freese will spend time at both spots with Harrison and Mercer in the middle. Cervelli had a great year last year.

They have the best outfield in baseball and two very good starting pitchers. What the Pirates get out of Niese and Nicasio will be a huge factor, as will the health of Harrison and Kang.

No sexy signings but I think they'll be very tough again. Have to avoid another slow start though.

my power rankings as of now. Top 3

1. Cubs- so much flexibility in the lineup and field. power, speed, baserunning.
deep starting staff, up and coming bullpen.

2. Mets- the lineup doesnt scare me, but they have the best rotation in baseball and i dont think its close.

3. Nationals- the post sleeper hype team. Really good rotation, best hitter in baseball, healthy Rendon/Zimmerman + Revere/Murphy.

The Nationals have a long tradition of choking in the post season. I don't see them and their pitching staff contending with the likes of the Cubs or Mets.

It really is silly how many guys can play multiple positions. I think the Zobrist aquisition was huge.

I think the Cubs will end up with the best record.
