Mean Joe Green Coke Commercial
Mean Joe Green "hey kid" popped in my mind when I read the title.

Ah, when Gatorade came in bottles.

One of my favorites was the ESPN commercial where Jalen Rose runs into Kobe at a restaurant and Kobe orders a martini with 81 olives.

Gatorade in a glass bottle
eta: not specifically a ‘sports’ commercial but it only aired one time and it was absolutely amazing. Superbowl commercial in Feb 2002 that had the Clydesdale Hosses going through NY and ending up at the WTC site and they all bow down and lay down one by one in respect. Most powerful spot I’ve ever seen and I’ll never forget it, nor watch it again.

Nowhere near Like Mike, but the Nike commercial feauturing the Killers is poetically the second best. It instantly transports you back to those 2008 Beijing Olympics, which are probably the best games I've seen.
It's superb LINK
Last of the Mohicans Nike is pretty stunning as well. LINK

Don Cheadle had a series of brief but awesome sports commercials ~10 years back which were part of an advert campaign for the NFL Playoffs and Superbowl.
They were each a simple monologue where it was just him looking at the camera and talking about a particular topic...samples below. The videos are old school and at the time really captivated me.
5 Seconds
Joe
Roman Numerals
What does impossible mean?

Love that one as well. Last of the Mohicans music taken from one epic scene used as the score for another. Great companion piece for Nike's "Fate" commercial (LT vs Polamalu)
Here's one that gave me a chill the first time I saw it: Reebok Edge "Leap of Faith"
Back when I was an Advertising/PR major - This was one shown in a class one day to illustrate the impact a commercial with no dialogue could make. . The professor had been involved in developing the campaign and I could see why he was disappointed it got banned prior to airing.. The majority of it was filmed on actual high steel. The runner featured was iron worker and free climber Albert Stalk who gained some notoriety when he participated in a free climb of the Eiffel Tower the same year the commercial was produced.

My favorite was an old ESPN SportsCenter commercial where the anchor steps on the elevator and asks, "going up?" Devil mascot just shakes his head no. Simple, clean, classic...
Absolute genius
