I think it was implied to be the best player while a Rocket.
Even Charles would admit he was on the downward slide in Houston.

This is one of the dumbest questions I've ever seen on here.
I hope, for your sake, that this is intentionally obtuse to make some sort of point.
If not, may God have mercy on your soul.

Agree Harden was a problem

other stuck it out as long as one could reasonably expect.
Hakeem is the GOAT agreed

Hakeem it isn’t even a question, Hakeem’s arguably a top 7 player in the history of the sport

They are both the best player in the league.
It was a big man game when Hakeem played, he was the best big man.
Today’s game is about shot creation and playmaking, it’s a perimeter oriented game, harden is the best at that.
I can’t pick but very thankful to have had both.

Tbt Moses Malone’s a better player in Rockets history over Harden, the guy played there less years, won 2 league MVP awards to Harden’s 1, led the massive underdog Rockets to the Finals which Harden didn’t do, and is an arguable top 10, criminally underrated player in the history of the sport because of recency bias. This was the same guy who ate Kareem alive both in the 81 First Round and 83 Finals with the Sixers.

Y'all are all forgetting Yao Ming up in here.

The real choice should be Hakeem vs. Moses Malone.

One was so good people don’t give houston shite for not taking Michael Jordan first overall. The other will be forgotten in 15 years unless it’s to bring up how prevalent flopping and foul shopping used to be.

Clyde Drexler has more championships in Houston than Harden. So does Vernon Maxwell. Harden may be the second best player behind Hakeem, but he accomplished nothing in Houston.

PER all time
Harden 9th
Hakeem 19th
WS48 all time
Harden 8th
Hakeem 49th
Box plus - minus all time
Harden 6th
Hakeem 28th
As we can see, when it comes to the actual numbers, stats, there is very very few player better than harden. Hakeem is not in that #.
However Hakeem was the best defender in the game, and we just don’t have great metrics for defense available to the public. Some organizations have stuff that is useful, but most is not great by any means.

What kind of fricking question is this? I don’t even follow basketball and I can tell you it’s Hakeem

Just kidding Hakeem was awesome.
No one's thinking of Kenny Smith.
And who does Harden play for? Never seen him in the Finals so don't really know.
