Bird was my answer....Magic, Jordan, all of them have said that nobody came close to his trash talking

quote:
“One of the first times I ever played against him, I went out for the opening tip and I went to shake his hand. He just stood there and looked at me stone-faced with his hands behind his back,” Wilkins said. “I was like, ‘Whoa.’ Then we were getting ready for the tip and he says to me, ‘You don’t belong in this league, Homes.’ I couldn’t believe it, but it happened so fast, I didn’t know what to think.”
It didn't end there. Bird continued hitting him with the trash talk. “Then they had the ball and I was on him and he said, ‘I don’t know why they got you guarding me, Homes. You can’t guard me.’ Then, whap, he hit a 3,” 'Nique revealed. “Then he came down again and said, ‘They made a mistake putting you on me, Homes,’ and he took another three.”
Bird kept calling Dominique, "Homes."

Ali?
This and it's not even close.
He basically invented trash talking in sport. And he was quite funny when he talked.

As noted, Bird gets a lot of the votes. When he was on the first Dream Team, Christian Latener was the college player selected that year. It was not one specific quote, but Bird rode his arse the whole time, brutally hard. Even MJ walked up to him at one point and asked Bird to back off a bit. Next time Bird saw Latener, he rode him even harder.

I can't stand guys that trash talk through the media. Like Reggie Miller. I respect guys like Bird that did it in the course of the game and the only way you knew about it was the target telling the story. The Xavier McDaniel story is the best Bird story of all time IMHO

Garnett is a piece of shite.
No need to get butthurt now. KG is the GOAT trash talker. He's not afraid to say whatever it takes to get in your head.
KG may not have limits to his trash talk, but he's far from a POS

Great Bird story...1985 Larry Bird was sickkkkkk.
On February 18, 1985, Bird registered a triple double (30 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists) and also had 9 steals in three quarters of play against the Utah Jazz. Bird sat out the fourth quarter, as the Celtics led 90–66 after the third quarter and won the game 110–94. When asked by reporters if he actually wanted to play in the 4th quarter to get the quadruple double, Bird said “What for? I already did enough damage to them.”

If Bird hadn't been a cheap bastard, we wouldn't have been robbed of a few more years of his career.
He was too cheap to pay someone to pave his mother's driveway. Hurt his back. Oh Larry.
