Dude, that's a great topic! John Curtis had some dominate teams, but played vs 3-A teams ( help me out). West Monroe had some good teams too. Back in the 80s, it seemed like Ruston played Neville every year. John Ehret had some good teams as well.

I favor OPHS 89 because they destroyed Brother Martin 35-7 in the Dome after Brother Martin beat Ruston the week before 59-56 in overtime. That team was clicking like no other with Connie Ray and Glen Ellis. But there was only one team to beat Ouachita that year and it was Ruston 14-13 at Ruston.
Played both teams.
Pretty well think Ruston '90 wins this debate.

The 1998 1A Kentwood team may have been the best team in the state that year. Their margin of victory through the 1A playoff bracket was 40 points per game that year. They were loaded for a 1A team.

That was the Brother Martin team QB'd by the LaRose kid that played at UCLA.

I would have loved to have seen the 98 versions play because those teams were probably both schools strongest teams. Evangel would have one that one as well. As they did every other time in the dome.
98 jammed at Tech. It was a 14-14 tie.

Although '99 Evangel beat WM for the 5A championship in Evangels first year they were allowed to move to 5A. (while JC decided to hide in 4A). This was a mythical NC game as well. I would have loved to have seen the 98 versions play because those teams were probably both schools strongest teams. Evangel would have one that one as well. As they did every other time in the dome.
My dad and I went to that evangel and west Monroe game. And it was a hell of a game. The key for the win was Brock Berlin calling audibles and running more than they usually did. And to think Andrew whitworth was a tight end for the rebels. The rebels were a class act with the loss. They kneeled down as a team when evangel was getting the trophy.

89 Ouachita was a badass team. Helped do their games on radio, so I saw every snap.
They really wanted another shot at Ruston.

Yep that 1990 Ruston team was something. Played them in the 1st round of the playoffs. I was a sophomore so didn’t play. Sat on the sidelines in 30 degree temps and watched what I thought was a good team just get skulldrug up and down the field.

Wish we could’ve seen that game with Tramissian Davis playing for WM. Got hurt in the semifinals and was replaced by a sophomore in the Dome. He went on to play at Tech and for the Saints. His son is WM’s WR1 this year.

He was pretty good!
I played against Evangel and WM from 98-01. It was not fun. Lost to Evangel in the playoffs of 99 with Berlin and the following year against WM.
Out of the 2 teams, WM was the better squad. Evangel was very good, but the physicality for 4 quarters against WM was just too much. They had the perfect blend of finesse and power.

Ridgedale 1984 undefeated and averaged over 50 points a game when both teams huddled up every play
