How does the ONLY undefeated heavyweight champion not be included in a top-10 list?

Well, Joe Louis was 137 years old.

And Jersey Joe was older than that.

Tyson when D'Amato, Baranski, and Rooney were training him.

Don King ruined that career.

Ali and Frazier closely after Tyson.

The "Mike Tyson" of Ali's age was George Foreman and we all know what happened in that bout.

Ali is tGOAT

beat the Zora Folleys and Chuck Wepners of the world and got a lot of attention for it because he was controversial.

And Liston( only 32-34) & Foreman?

Foreman didn't have one tenth of the skill-set and aggression that Tyson had. Not even close.

And no where NEAR the conditioning (before King)

Agree. None of those listed would've wanted any part of 19-20 year old Mike. Ali damn sure wouldn't have been doing any rope a dope. Foreman/Tyson both in prime would've been fun though.

Sonny Liston was just as feared as Tyson & cleared out the Heavyweight division before absolutely destoying the champ (Patterson) twice in the 1st Rd.

Liston had a punishing left jab & wasn't just some brawler. Liston was a very skilled/ powerful fighter.

Tyson was a beast when he was young. But to judge his career, you have to look at who were he best fighters that he beat and it is not that impressive of a list. He lost to the best fighters that he fought.

You didn't specify this in your post. if you did then yes, lewis and Holyfield are probably there, but nowhere near the greats of the 60s-70s. 90-2000 was a really weak era in heavyweights and why people think Tyson was so great.

Even though he lost, Ali got up after this shot. Unbelievable chin

The one guy who needs to be on the list of any great Heavyweights is Teofilo Stephenson. That man was terrifying. If they could have ever got him away from Castro him and a Holmes fight or him and Ali fight would have shattered records.

Best estimate on his birth year was 1927. That would have made him 37. He used 1932 to give the impression he was younger.

If Cus doesn't die we are debating whether its Ali or Tyson for the GOAT heavyweight. Yes, Tyson is in the top 10.

This. The moment Cus passed away and Mike fell into Don's waiting arms was the end of it.

Cus was the stability that would've kept Tyson great a lot longer

Cus was dead way before the crash. The Jimmy Jacobs death was the nail that ended Tyson. Jacobs was able to keep him out of jail he employed Rooney and Atlas etc.

Jimmy Jacobs controlled everything in the Tyson camp.

And Matt Baranski was the no-bullshite strength and conditioning guy (D'Amato's choice) that kept Tyson on a brutal workout regimen from his first amateur fight and until Don King took over.

Not only this, but Cus died before Tyson won his first world title vs Trevor Berbick. The entire 6 year championship reign than earned him the moniker "the baddest man on the planet" that everyone remembers him for all happened after Cus.

Edit: I agree with everyone that once Tyson cut out all of the holdovers from Cus's camp from his team (Rooney, Baranski, etc...) that Tyson's career crashed. He was a headcase with no direction after that

Ali is the only man to ever win the Lineal Heavyweight Title 3 times. That speaks volumes not to mention he went to prison and had still came back to rise to the top of the ranks.
