This line is getting old. I'm a Uhigh guy so believe me I definitely understand recruiting and how it elevates high school programs (and quickly). Catholic has studs all over the field. I wasn't take a shot at Catholic, It's just my opinion that the coach is realizing Catholic's potential by getting the players over there now.

In my state (TN), I believe the rule is private to private you have to sit out, public to public you have to sit out unless you have some sort of hardship waiver or if your family moves out of district, but private to public you don't have to sit out.

That and the administration at U-High was on the way out. No more support from the Principal.

I went to private school in LA.

You had to sit out unless you got a certain waiver or moved within the district.

I even had friends that went to private elementary school until 8th grade, left, came to my school and had to sit out varsity sports their freshman year because they didn't live in the district.

My school was k-12 and the other schools were k-8.

Everyone knows LCA is barely anything more than a school where athletics is by far its main mission.

The academic side is a joke

Don’t forget what that middle initial stands for. That is the real joke!

A great way to deflect charges of cheating/recruiting (for a while, anyway) is to put "Christian/Sacred/etc." in your school's name.

That seems a little extreme and unfair to kids to be completely honest. I don't believe we have any rules in TN requiring that kids sit out if they move schools prior to starting high school. It also seems wrong to make a kid leaving a private school to a public school sit out ever. It's freaking high school sports at the end of the day. They're simply recreation and fun for the vast majority of high school players. The governing bodies need to take a step back and realize these are children and not treat high school sports like they are more than what they are. I went to private school my entire life, and it's not cheap. Most of the private schools increase dramatically in tuition after 8th grade, so to put kids in the position of being forced to sit out if their parents can no longer afford or no longer wish to keep paying over $20k/year in tuition is just wrong.

My daughter’s team was playing soccer against LCA. I didn’t know much about them, and my wife, who is all into Lafayette area school info, told me LCA was a “ghetto school”.

I didn’t believe her until I saw an LCA mom yelling at her daughter on the field like she was supposed to be Mia Hamm. Then the mom and her husband started yelling at each other on the sideline when he told her to shut up.

It was one of the trashiest things I’ve seen.

You rounded down by about 3 on each side.

Eta: just pulled up the game on demand. 5 starters on defense, 6 on offense along with all but one of the rotational skill players.

Yeah, I thought those numbers were deflated as well from what I remembered from when my kid’s team played them this year.

Easier for public schools to cheat???? Lol. Not even in the same ballpark.

I'm in an area in LA where the public schools are head and shoulders above the 2 privates academically. Yet parents still send their kids to the want a be football/baseball factory so they might get a ring competing against little schools, in the name of religion of course.

I went to the dome one year to watch the state finals. Evangel was playing in the 1A game (if I remember correctly). Their fans came in and hung up a huge banner in the dome that read “Death From Above”. All I could do was shake my head.
