This is why you can’t let players make personnel decisions.

I get Higgins is burrow’s homie, but you occasionally have to be able to stop someone, oh and protecting the qb from time to time helps.

Burrow/chase/higgins are almost making double what the entire defense’s year cap is.

all 3 will be asking for trades within the next couple years when they realized it’s not working out

Why on earth would you do that if you have a good QB? A good QB having one top WR is lagniappe. Why in the holly blue frick would you pay 115 million for a WR2?

While I agree on not paying a wr2 big bucks, I’ll play devil’s advocate.
The Higgins deal is only guaranteed for 2 of the 4 years.
Besides Trey Hendrickson who they still may pay, they really don’t have anybody else who they’d need to pay.
Overspending in FA usually doesn’t work out bc other teams don’t really let their best players walk.

The key is to draft and develop well which the bengals have struggled at lately.

+1 the Bengals were also really good when all 3 were on the field. People are forgetting they won their last 5 games and would've been a handful for anyone had they made the playoffs. They're gonna try to win by outscoring everyone and I'm here for it

Joe doing what other qbs fail to do by actually getting his teammates paid.

His teammates don't need their QB to get them paid. The market dictates that and both WRs would have gotten paid with or without the Bengals.

If Joe wants to win, he should have told his WRs to take 20% less to win titles. And he should have offered to do the same himself

I'm a big Burrow fan, but him coming out and basically saying Tee was essential to their offense was kind of dumb. he's not. But if something that simple forced the FO hands, then the whole FO needs to be fired. You don't make decisions for the team based on your QB's opinions. Burrow wasn't going to demand a trade if they didn't sign Tee, it's kind of dumb to act like he is the one responsible for this contract. even dumber than that though is thinking all of them should have taken 20% less.

If they didn't resign Higgins, then Chase and Burrow could get all their cash. Once you sign all 3 it's impossible to pay anyone else on the team. You can't get everyone paid and to "win" at the same time. That's not how the NFL works. You need to take advantage of drafting the right pieces and making tough decisions.

The tough decision was to keep one of the two wide receivers and let the other one walk.

Sorry that you don't understand basic math and how the NFL works. I won't call you dumb but the evidence is speaking clearly

I agree with all of that doofus.

None of that has anything to do with Joe taking a 20% pay cut and talking his WR's to do the same They shouldn't have resigned Tee, simple as that. I'm not going to try and get on some moral high ground and act like some pro athletes should take a pay cut in the prime of their careers.
