I've had sort of a weird relationship with baseball and see both sides of the debate.

I was obsessed with baseball as a kid, and played and watched it religiously. Then when I hit high school, I just stopped caring about it and my fandom took about a 15 year break, veering between passive indifference to antipathy. I fell back in love with it when my son got into tee ball and little league and I started coaching his teams, and it reminded me how much I loved and had missed the game, its flow, and its rich history.

I'd say it's my #1 sport, though I completely understand those who don't care for it. Aspects like the pace, the asinine unwritten rules, and the fact that the MLB is so poorly run and is almost trying to be a niche sport at this point are what tend to alienate casual fans.

I've always said, playoff baseball is the best sport on the planet.

Regular season is almost as bad as College Basketball regular season.

But there is no greater drama...it's like a movie, than post-season baseball.

Every pitch, every decision can decide the game. It's riveting TV.

Football won’t be a sport in 15 years. Baseball and basketball reign supreme

Used to love baseball. I still enjoy it, but football and basketball are my twin boos now.

Baseball is fun to play.

At any level from HS to AAA, baseball is a pretty good spectator sport. I enjoy watching LLWS and CWS games.

Major League Baseball, however, is one big unwatchable hot mess. From the douchey players with their petty bean ball wars over tossing bats the wrong way, to the ENDLESS delays and incomprehensible umpiring and 4-1/2 hour games: no, thanks.

I mean, fricking GOLF is 10 times more interesting to watch on TV.

So sadly, I'll have to disagree with you on BB's place in the American sports pantheon.

So I can not be engaged and the lack of action will keep me up to date with what is happening? Sounds like you're pretty much saying that baseball is boring and slow.

Football is my favorite, then basketball, but I can't watch baseball like I can watch football and basketball. I'll keep up with it during the season and I don't mind going to a game, bit the only time I start to really watch is doing post season,

It’s football and it’s been pretty obvious that it’s football during this quarantine. I’ve hardly heard anybody bitch about baseball being cancelled but people are ready to riot over football and it’s not even close to the start of the season

I love me some LSU baseball but MLB is the worst. And their numbers have taken a huge hit over the last decade because all the old baseball fans are dying off while the nba is surging and football still reigns supreme. The younger crowd likes fast paced, exciting sports. Que the “people who don’t like baseball just don’t understand it” crowd

On a positive note lsu baseball is a welcome change of pace coming right after the gauntlet that is football season. Football season for most lsu fans means your whole Saturday revolves around tailgating/the game. Baseball there really isn’t any tailgating and it’s more of a chill out relax and watch sport which can be nice

basketball is best.

elements of individual and team on both defense and offense.

and the ways you can move are the best of all major sports.

I’m a big NBA fan but MLB’s gross revenue is like 2 billion more than the NBA

Baseball fandom is a litmus test for sports fans as far as I’m concerned.

If you just watch football you’re a meathead. If you just watch basketball you’re a simpleton. If you just watch football and basketball you are a dime a dozen, cliche sports fan.

You aren’t a well rounded, nuanced sports fan if you aren’t into baseball.

This is a poorly worded response by some, but the sentiment is correct.

People who don’t like baseball don’t understand why people who like baseball like it. It’s a combination of things. It’s the smell of the grass and a leather baseball glove. It’s the history and tradition. It’s the stats. It’s a game built on iconic records and milestones. It’s the beauty of that perfect swing. It’s the cat and mouse between pitcher and batter. A 1 on 1 battle with everything on the line. It’s something that’s hard to describe and I probably did a terrible job. But it’s something that whoever grasps it, anyone who grasps it, they would love it too just the same.

for a multitude of reasons that really isnt indicative of the national interest the sport has compared to the NBA
