Why would the B1G bother taking any of the remaining Big 12 leftovers unless it was a UT/OU package? The rest of the schools don't improve the conference.

OU and Kansas to the BIG
TTU, UT, Houston/Rice, and OSU to the PAC-16 (PAC doesn't want religious schools so no Baylor and TCU).

The rumors before were Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. But the Pac-12 wouldn't have taken Texas Tech without Texas and wouldn't have taken Oklahoma State without Oklahoma. Even Oklahoma was questionable for them, but they were willing if Texas came. Since Texas didn't want to agree to the Pac-12 revenue sharing plan and wanted their Longhorn Network, it all fell apart.

It would all ride on Texas again. I guess Texas might not have too many choices if the Big 12 blows up.

I think Dan Wetzel at Yahoo has said it's not about eyeballs, but that they can jack up the subscriber fee if a B1G school is in that state. This shite is going to come crashing down at some point. I'm not sure if it's cord cutting or a la carte packaging, but one day we're going to look back at realignment and think it was completely stupid. But, I guess if the money is so good now, it doesn't really matter.

As "cutting the cord" gets more prevalent the providers will find a way to charge you. There will be a SECN app, a BIGN app, a PAC-12N app, etc and the networks will get their money.

If I am the Big Ten I would go after Mizzou and Kentucky HARD. It is well known that Mizzou wanted a B10 invite but settled for the SEC when that didn't happen. B10 is a much better long term fit for them.

Kentucky has been a member for a very long time, but lets face it...they are a basketball school in a football crazed conference. They don't have anyone else in the SEC that is even comparable. They are alone on an island. They are like if Alabama was in the ACC or the old Big East. And UK could actually build a football program in the B10 instead of constantly being pounded in the SEC.

Plus....SEC has no buyout.

Damn I am going to have to upvote a gump.

SEC then has 12 teams and a smaller footprint = win for the fans
SEC adds VT, Duke, UVA, and UNC. Go to pods model with the top2 teams playing in ATL for SECCG = win for fans, win for tv $$$,

Mizzou and UK do you need help packing?

ESPN is losing $$$ hands over fist on the LHN, & OU is rumored to be pissed at Texas like Nebraska was (internet rumors so more than likely bs). According to an OU alum that worked in the athletic department (and is probably talking our of his arse, but I will pass along what he told me) the Big12 GOR is null and void if the conference is dissolved. It takes more than 75% to dissolve the conference. Since there are currently 10 members that means that 8 of the 10 would need a power conference landing spot.

ESPN and Fox own the tv rights to Big12, and if they decided that they wanted to max their money (ESPN owns SECN, ACC tv rights and Fox owns the BIG and PAC tv networks). They could carve up the Big12 and the GOR would not be a problem.
BIG: OU and Kansas
ACC: WVU
PAC: UT, TTU, OSU*, Houston/Rice*
SEC: TCU* and Baylor*

* = schools that I don't want or think the conferences will add, just trying to get 80% to dissolve Big12. Again this is probably all BS, but I am just passing on what I have heard.

I find the Nebraska and PSU fan complaining about being in the B1G entertaining.

1) Might it have something to do with the fact that you rarely, if ever, win anything of substance in either of the major sports? (I recall PSU fans talking about if they'd get bored of going to the Rose Bowl all the time when they joined the conf)

2) Given the gobs of money your university is getting for being a part of it, feel free to go elsewhere and see how many schools line up to take those spots. It would be the dumbest move your schools could ever make.

Because it really doesn't have that much to do with "improving the conference". If they a) pass muster academically, and b) increase the footprint...that's all that really matters. How else would you explain Rutgers?

P12 isn't taking TTU, Rice, UH or OSU.

There will be a B12 as long as Texas wants to remain in it.
