Aussie football is awesome

I think it's because of the excessive amount of gopher tunas in the stands

It was a mainstay of the early ESPN era, before they had the revenue to pay for the popular American sports. I'm surprised it's not on a niche channel somewhere, though. Looks fun as hell.

The NFL is full of pansies. *This* is a foul, mate.

My friends from Australia love the stuff but heck even they cant decide. They have aussie rules football and super rugby over there competing for time and players. I know two guys that will fist fight right now over whether Aussie rules or super rugby is better and they grew up together.
In the USA its kinda nice to have just one full contact sport football, that we invented to focus on. The product gets watered down when top athletes are being pulled to play multiple contact sports like they do in Australia.

1. Field is freakin' HUGE.
2. I thought concussions might be a problem in the NFL. Holy crap this is 100x worse.

My favorite part is that they have to dribble the ball, and although it's technically every 15 yards there's no stripes on the field so it's just accepted that you can't run "too far." If you do the ump will literally signal travelling - just like in basketball -- and it's a turnover. That and they freaking pass it to each other by hitting it like a volleyball serve.

So... it's like basketball, with volleyball passing, with soccer-like field, rugby ball, and football hits? I might watch some of it... Sounds... weird.

I went to a game in Perth ... It's right up there with LSU football. The game was Perth Eagles versus the Fremantle Dockers. The rivalry was reminded me of a Bama game at Tiger Stadium.

It really is nothing like basketball.
But damn it is awesome.

I went to a couple matches when I studied there. Those dudes are great athletes and badasses.

Fox Sports 2 almost every Friday night at 10:30pm Central. Live. Also, Saturday night/Sunday Morning at 1:30 am Central. Live.
Tonight it's the Adelaide Crows v. West Coast Eagles.
Tomorrow it's Collingwood v. Port Adelaide
Saturdays nights, before Aussie Football, it's NRL Rugby on the same channel.

One finger jammed in an eye is excruciating, three, I quit and would cry like a baby.
OP, it's huge in Australia.
Do any of you older fellows remember when ESPN showed Aussie football
Fun times and a great sport. I wish it was played here.

Your wish has been granted
I'll bet some of these guys are on TD. Reveal yourselves!

Sure do. It was fascinating.
Saw some guys practicing or playing on the LSU Parade Grounds once, on the parking lot across from Taylor Hall (!), and in a field up near the Baton Rouge Zoo.

Those are real men. Holy shite I would love to a crew of them.

Cocaine is a big problem in that league though. Not surprising.
