If you wanted to book a room at the SpringHill Suites in Augusta, Ga., for next week, you could do so at the rate of $103/night. The following week? When the Masters was originally scheduled to be played? Same rate: $103/night.
But try booking that same room for any night in October 2020 and you’ll see a different nightly rate appear: $895. When reached by phone on Wednesday morning, a SpringHill associate told GOLF.com the hotel had no inside information. “As of now, nobody here knows anything,” she said.
They’re far from the only ones. The Residence Inn‘s nightly rate jumps from $139 to $999. Ecco Suites from $79 to $650. The Knights Inn goes from $49 to $449. LPGA Tour pro Marina Alex posted on Twitter that she’d been kicked out of her Augusta room reservation for the week as prices had surged.

Good lord are hotel prices really that insane for the Masters?

I've stayed at Knights Inn and everything in that room doesn't add up to $450

People will stay in hotels as far away as Columbia for the Masters. Demand is sky high.

$449 to stay at a Knights Inn?
Talk about a rip off

What is air bnb. I thought it was an actual hotel name or bed and breakfast name but then read your message saying citizens were going to air Bnb there property.
So I was obviously wrong.
So what is that exactly?

It's a site where you can rent vacation homes instead of motel rooms. In some instances you can get a house as cheap or cheaper than a decent motel
Edited to add you can rent condos and rooms at vacation resorts also

Basically you rent out a room in your house or your entire house.
What is uber is to taxis/shuttles, Airbnb is to hotels.

On a serious note, think of it as Uber for homes.
People rent out their places temporarily to people.

Dump motel 6's go for $500 a night during the US Open at Pebble.
People will stay as far as two hours away and drive to the event, park in some random place and then pay to bused in (everyone has to be bused in even employees).
But it sounds like the Masters is even higher.
Golf fans are crazy. That's just way too much money for a weekend golf event. Puts families out $5,000.

Before it was called AirBNB my sister would rent out her house at Belle Meade in Thomson for the week. People would pay as much as $10K...

October will be lit with French Open wrapping up, Masters, World Series, and oh yeah, football.

Please tell me we're about to get 2 Masters in the span of 6 months

Very few people get tickets to all four days and those who do aren’t sweating $5k at all.

Not only this, but when the Ryder Cup winds down, you get to look forward to the Masters 2 weeks later. Only drawback is the rumored weekend is LSU - Florida, but at least it's away.
