If you hold it in early August, the hurricane issue is moot. The 2012 Games were held July 27-Aug 12.

I'd love to see DC/Baltimore get a real look from the committee. They have the facilities and infrastructure to accomodate something like the Olympics.

It doesn't rain here in the summer hardly at all (which is when the Olympics would be). It would likely be between 70-80 degrees and sunny for the entire event.
As far as event centers or stadiums, what are the major ones that the Olympics would require?

Between downtown and the U of Washington, I can't think of anything Seattle doesn't already have.
And the rowing sports would be awesome in the bay.
Find a real river for the kayaking though. That course in London was lame.

Would they really give it to Denver due to its elevation? Something tells me long distance runs and the marathon would be disasters waiting to happen in the thin air.

Mexico City (1968) hosted it with no problem and it's about 3,000 feet higher than Denver.

Well, San Francisco was one of the US cities that submitted bid applications to the USOC before Chicago eventually won out for the US bid.

I think you're right. We would have everything in the area. The only thing I don't think we have is a large arena or stadium for track and field (unless an existing stadium can make that work). The track at Husky Stadium is officially gone.

Jerryworld could be the venue for opening an closing ceremonies, an outdoor track venue would probably need to be constructed.
I honestly think Nashville could make a run if it weren't for serious deficits in mass transit and the need for a track venue.

If they went through with a bid, it'd be strong and presumably very well-funded. Between the two cities, there'd be plenty of room to build everything. I think the bid would only have DC's name on it, even though it would really be the "Maryland" bid. And setting aside international visitors, the mass of people with disposable income in this region guarantees that every event would sell out 100%, no matter what was charged for tickets.
Probably the biggest drawback to such a bid is European snobbery at putting the Olympics in what is already considered the military power center of the world
