Some national writers are ripping him this evening for apparently implying Juan Soto isn't really 19 in the game earlier.
Man I heard that earlier & didnt feel like he was using it in that context. Took it as "he doesnt hit the other way with power like a 19 year old"

Checking in to see if we’ve discussed Joe Simpson yet. Thought his comments were innocuous tonight but he’s certainly becoming a “get off my lawn” guy in the eyes of the media, and in my opinion, a bit douchy at times. I’m ready for a new voice. Hell get Don Sutton off the radio and bring him in. (Don will never leave the radio side).
My vote would be for Ben Ingram. He does the pre and post game shows on the radio and fills in on radio broadcasts for some of the road series. Dude is good and has the voice.

he’s gained about 40-50 pounds.
So that made him around 145 lbs playing weight last year.
OK.

He was listed at 160 in 2016. You think it's a stretch to say he's playing at 200-210 right now?

145 + 50 = 195
Now, since you already know there are listed weights, why don't you go check his current one instead of guessing?

Ok man. We can pretend that these weights are exact and that a 35 pound listed change couldn't possibly be 40-50. I'll concede that one to you.
But back to your original point what was it that had you so bought in on Camargo last season? He was barely above league average as a hitter last season despite a .364 BABIP,19 % K rate and 4% BB rate and had zero track record of success in the minor leagues and zero prospect pedigree.
You don't think it's rightful to be skeptical of someone like that?
Obviously this year his approach is much better as he's walking almost twice as much and hitting more line drives. I don't think anyone has really questioned his ability to stick as a big leaguer at all this season but you don't think it was a legitimate question mark last season when almost all of his value was in a BABIP fueled BA?

I'd settle for replacing him with Frenchy. The radio guys are much better but I don't see that big of a change happening right now.

Don Sutton adds value to any and every broadcast.
And Jim is a decent p-by-p guy for a dirty dawg.

Ben Ingram would be my ideal replacement for Chip as play by play, and I could live with Frenchy being the color man.
Not sure if you guys listen to the radio much, but Ingram is top notch on the pregame show and has been part of the rotation that fills in for Sutton on road trips. He's really good.

Too bad it seems that Sutton is on his way out. He doesn't travel anymore, and is getting up there in age, so it wouldn't surprise me if he hangs it up after this season or next.

Player A first full season - .783 OPS, .364 BABIP, 20% K rate, 1.3 oWAR, 0.0 dWAR, 1.1 WAR
Player B first full season - .636 OPS, .292 BABIP, 22% K rate, 0.4 oWAR, 0.0 dWAR, -0.3 WAR
Of the two players noted above, which one was proclaimed the 'AAAA' player and which one was not?

You dont have to bring other players into this, because you are trying to move goal posts. What Vol is saying is truth.
Johan was a league average hitter last year during his time. Showed no power. Did not walk, and had an unsustainable BABIP.
The difference between 2017 and 2018 is the fact is that he is showing power and is walking, something he never showed as a minor leaguer, so acting like you knew he was going to turn into a potential long term answer anywhere is you lying to yourself.
2017-.299/.331/.452, 330 wOBA, 102 wRC, 4.7 BB%, 19.9 K%
2018-.254/.341/.447, 339 wOBA, 112 wRC, 10.9 BB%, 19.3 K%

Dansby was demoted during that season despite being the #1 overall prospect by some publications entering the season.
What does that have to do with Camargo's season last year?
