Ronnie is my favorite player in baseball. By a lot. But he’s got to make that catch if he wants to win the MVP.

This is a bad take.

Does anyone have the link to Ben's call of Ronnie's 30th?

Wow, we are 5 games up on them now instead of 4. What a huge mental edge we are going to have in 50 days!

You mean we are up 5 instead of 3. Those were the only two options after last night.

And I think you may be overanalyzing this. Nobody actually thinks is equalivalent to a playoff series or determines the season. I do happen to think if Atlanta wins 3 of 4 then home field is pretty much locked up and maybe even without having to go full tilt the last week of the season so we get everything lined up perfeclty. That’s a tangible big deal for the playoffs and potential NLCS matchup. I do not to have to pontentially win Game 7 in Dodger Stadium.

Also for me there is just a ton of juice in this series regardless of playoff implications. Feels like a Acuna v Betts head to head battle for the MVP. Them going tit for tat last night was exciting as hell and I’m glad Ronnie got the “my team won” feather in his cap.

And then there is Freddie. Will always be one of my favorite players (Freddie was to my son like Murph was to me), but there will just always be a little extra juice and want for me to see the Braves win while he’s wearing fricking Dodger blue.

Dodger Stadium has been a house of horrors for the Braves for this team for a long, long time. That dude can downplay it if he wants, but these are still human beings and they are definitely aware of this. Splitting or winning this series would go a long way for them, IMO.

Got the first game under our belt and have an advantageous pitching matchup tonight (Fried vs Urias). Would love to have two wins going into the weekend.

If these two meet in the LCS it's going to be an epic series.

To be fair, these guys know that they can beat the Dodgers as they've done it before so I don't think that the mental/psychological thing is an issue.

It’s strange that it does seem that way. It feels like the Braves have a better lineup, better starting pitching, and better relief pitching. I don’t really know the defensive metrics comparisons but I doubt the Dodgers are materially much better there.

Despite the Dodgers’ recent scorcher the Braves just look like a s better team on paper that should win in 6 games 7 out of 10 times. Also feels like if Betts and/or Freeman have a cold series the Dodgers would be toast. Not so with Acuna and Olson by comparison.

Maybe the Braves’ baserunnig is so shite that it erases all other advantages? Lol

BS
I said the same as soon as it happened. It hit the tip of his glove. I know it's an away game so not used to the dimensions, but catching that would have gone a long way in solidifying the MVP.

Lost in all of this is that Dodger fans were giving Acuña the business last night as he circled the bases.

I fricking love it!

The way that right field fence is cut looks pretty dangerous. Looks like you could easily twist an ankle or worse if you land on it wrong. Visiting players get injured out there all the time.

That padding that juts out under the chain link fence has bad news written all over it. That's right where Betts hit that ball. IMO, the league needs to step in and force the Dodgers to fix that or make them play home games in Anaheim.

Man, there’s a month of season left. Lots of chances to solidify to come.

Agreed. But you can’t dismiss how sexy it would have looked for Acuna to hit a grand slam becoming the first player ever to go 30/60 and follow it up 30 minutes later by robbing the co-favorite MVP of a homerun.
Would have been talked about for a lot time.

Between the Acuña slam after a bases loaded walk and barely squeaking out a 1 run win, last night felt eerily similar to the 2018 NLDS game 3.
