Gonna be a late one. frick LA.

No Ozzie tonight. He's not hurt, just a scheduled day off after coming off the DL and playing three straight days in altitude, per Bowman.

Dodgers are every bit as hot in August as the Braves were in June. Gonna need to bring the bats big time this weekend.

Feels like a series that’s going to be way overanalyzed and overreacted to by the fanbases. Neither team is playing for much as there are clear advantages and disadvantages to both the 1 and 2 seed in the NL. Should be fun but these games are not going to be managed or approached like playoff games, despite the media buildup. I’m sure we will hear this “feels like a playoff series” 100+ times over the next 4 days.

Let’s also remember that the 2021 Braves were swept in LA in September. Would be nice to win 2 or 3 but these games are no more or less important than our series at home against the Pirates next week.

It’s important in the sense for NLCS home field advantage which I think ultimately decides who goes to the World Series… but that’s only if these two teams get that far, which we saw wasn’t the case last year despite having the two best records.

With that said, I think it’d be good for us if we at least split. Dodgers would have the upper hand psychologically if they take 3 games this weekend for a 5-2 season series.

Like I said a week ago, this series is really the closest thing we’ll have to meaningful baseball until the postseason, it’d be nice if we played accordingly.

I think the “psychological” aspect is way overblown. If we get bulldozed I don’t think that’s going to have any impact on games almost two months away. Dodgers are playing at a 140 win pace over the last 5 weeks. Zero chance they’ll be playing anywhere near that level in 50 days.

The difference in quality between the Phillies and Cubs/Dbacks/Reds/Giants is wide enough that I think it’s a real tossup when you argue about whether the 1 or 2 seed is better. Joe Davis and the guys on Dodgers broadcast last night indicated they think the 2 seed would be the preference on their side but obviously you’re not going to lose games in hopes of falling behind them.

I am really just wanting to get through this series. There are going to be some wild overreactions on both the winning and losing sides.

2 seed is definitely preferred for the NLDS, but again, I think homefield ultimately wins the NLCS if it’s Braves/Dodgers.

They are the only team that can still hang with us even if we are playing up to our capabilities. In that aspect, I think this series is important because if it’s a true doomsday scenario and we get swept, then we both have the same record, but they have the tiebreaker.

And I don’t think the psychology angle is the end all be all, but it definitely factors in. These are humans we’re dealing with after all.

I also think the Braves need to go to Dodger Stadium and prove to themselves that they won't get killed out there. Their record there in the last 15 years is just putrid.

I just think it’s dumb to overreact with this series, but also pretty dumb to act like it’s just another series too.

It’s like saying the final Mets series last year wasn’t that important because both teams were in the postseason anyway. If we somehow take 3 this weekend, we pretty much secure a potential NLCS game 7 in Truist.

That has to mean something.

We’d be extremely fortunate to split this series.

Could not agree more with this.

Very different comparing playing for a bye to the difference in the 1 and 2 seed this year. The 2 seed is going to be in a much better position to make the NLCS. That could easily override the potential advantage of 1 extra home game in the NLCS (if the 1 seed even gets there)

I think that is overblown, considering the NLCS was two wild card teams last year.

Just sounds like you are already going into this series thinking we probably lose 3 and are trying to cope.

This series won’t lock in who represents the NL in the World Series, but it’s important.

Good to get out of that with one run scoring.

Guess that’s why Lopez plays.

Their stars do what their stars do. I believe our lineup is deeper.

Though I agree with others, this is somewhere between just another series and the most important series of the year lol

I’ll be perfectly fine with a split.
