Matt Olson has already produced 3 seasons offensively better than Adam LaRoche’s career year.
Their career OPS is like 60 points apart.
Olson is averaging 38.8 HRs/162 games in his career. LaRoche averaged 25 HRs/162 games.
A 25 HR guy and 40 HR guy is a pretty massive difference.
That's IF Matt consistently taps into his power. That's why I said that. If he does that, then we're alright. But he's having an Adam LaRoche type of year, this year, and two years ago he struggled pretty hard outside of providing some decent power. So there is reason to have some concern about whether he can sustain success, or if his lack of pure hitting ability will cause him to eventually regress hard.
And Matt has only had two seasons with a higher OPS than Adam's career year, and and one of those was in just 59 games in '17, so that doesn't exactly count.
I compare them because they profile very similarly outside of Olson having more natural power.
Edit- correction, the 59 game '17 season was the only season that bested LaRoche's highest OPS year.

Mets up 6-0.
We're about to drop back to 3.5 with 5 games in New York. At worst, we have to end this coming series by 4.5 back for us to still have a realistic shot at the division.
Biggest series of the season.

Literally everyone in the discussion has spoken facts, stop acting like the people that support your opinion are the only ones doing it.
Makes you look beta as frick.

Oh wow we agree on something, and I’m actually a tad higher on a Braves player than you are. Cats and dogs and flying pigs

I was thinking the same thing tonight. Would be very pleased if we could win 3 out of 5. If we don't I am going to start paying more attention to the wild card race

We still have 7 games vs them after these 5.. we def need to win 3/5 but If we lose 3/5 it’s not close to over.

Right, which is what I said, that would put us 4.5 back.
But if the Mets win 4 or sweep, it's going to hella tough to make up 5.5 or 6.5 in 2 months.

Mets have an easy September too. Like maybe easier than our June was.
But we are picking up at least a game this weekend so
