Ozuna out of the lineup for the third day in a row. I'm pleasantly surprised by that.

Morton came through in a huge way when we needed something from him yesterday. Jake Odorizzi, you're up. His first two starts have been massively disappointing. I'd love to see him rebound tonight.

If we can get just 4 innings out of Odorizzi and no more than 1 or 2 runs allowed, I'd be tempted to consider ourselves lucky and turn it over to the bullpen.

Need to come out hot early against Scherzer. Whenever we have success against him it's due to early homeruns or it's due to working deep counts and working his pitch count. If he gets in the first couple of innings and has only thrown 30 or less pitches, then we likely won't do much against him.

Yeah, hoping for a strong start from him, but also hope the leash is very short if he starts to falter. Also agree about working the count. Keep up the approach they've had of late, and just hang in there against him. The Atlanta heat might catch up to him if he has to throw a lot of pitches early. Any runs they can get off of him are a plus, but they need to get him out as early as possible and get after their 'pen.

Fair to say this is the biggest game of the season. It’s a must that they at least get the split.

Scherzer himself has said on a few occasions that it takes him about 40 pitches into a game to truly feel loosened up. He's one that you definitely have to get early.

I predict that Grissom will hit two homers off of Scherzer, and the Braves will sign him to an 8 year deal. Because, why not? It's the Braves' way now.

Once Atlanta completes their 8-year deal with rookie sensation Michael Harris, they'll have invested about $450 million in long-term extensions in the past five months. Matt Olson and Austin Riley already were locked up for the next eight years and 10 years, respectively.

These next two games are really going to set the tone for the remainder of the season.

Going to try to catch anything that flies into left-center tonight

Look for a gangly frick going ankles over noggin if you see someone blast it near the Home Depot clubhouse

You should sit by the pergola (the word that we probably all heard for the first time in our lives last night) and catch an Olson home run. Acuna hits them where you'll be, pretty often, so that could be fun.

I know you are joking, but my prediction is that they sign Contreras to something before the season is done.

If they are comfortable with how he's coming along defensively, he is probably the next logical choice to sign. Pretty important position, as we know.

Got $157m on the books so far for next year counting Morton's 20m which we might not pick up.

Thats before we lock up SS, Fried Soroka Minter and Matzek Arbitration, no Kenley and no Duvall.

I wanted tickets on the 1st base line so I could remind Ole Pete that he's built like a sack of nickels

It's really the next 5 games. Can't beat the mets and then lose the series to the Astros. Need to go 3-2 in the next 5 worst case.

Definitely need to get to Scherzer early and with long counts. When he gets into a groove, he’s just about unstoppable.

Hopefully the hot bats continue and with the vocal crowd we can accomplish it

Very true. Both teams really want a piece of us. Heavy lies the crown.
