Mets have Scherzer and Verlander going and Braves have neither Fried nor Wright, and yet I actually don’t think the pitching match ups necessary favor the Mets all that much. Wouldn’t have believed that before the season started.
Strider, Morton and Elder have really stepped up.

Nice. Dude basically went straight from A ball to starting in the majors. Steve Avery-esque.

Hoping elder can get the W against carrasaco.

Carrasco and Lindor have both been shockingly bad since the Indians traded them to the Mets. Apparently, the Mets tinkered with Lindor's swing after they signed him to that deal because they wanted him to hit more HRs and that has resulted in a massive hole in his swing that wasn't there previously.

I had forgotten that Avery basically skipped the entire minors save A-ball.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Looking like rain here. Any chance this blows over for people in the know?

Weather apps all say it's a small storm that should be gone by first pitch tonight. Of course that means we'll probably have a two hour rain delay.

Reading this AJC story on Soroka/AJSS, I'm not sure this was handled the best way.
They kept saying we're calling Soroka because he's ready, but in reality, they called him up because they needed someone to start and that they actually would've used AJSS for that game if he had been on full rest from his last Gwinnett start. It's a business obviously and a void was needed to be filled, but I came away from reading this like they threw Soroka to the lions, send him back down and are now saying "well, yeah, of course he failed, he wasn't ready."
Idk, feels kinda gross. Especially after all the "when we call him up, it'll be because we know he's staying up" rhetoric that was being thrown around the last month. We just hit the eject button after two starts... both on the road?
Now the question becomes what happens to Soroka if AJSS takes this rotation spot and keeps it? Do we try and retool Soroka as a bullpen guy or hope he has some sort of trade value to get some win-now pieces.

Idk I don’t want to lose Soroka. Dude was so awesome before some of the worst luck possible

Going to have to make some decisions real soon, because, even if we lose Fried after next season, we're going to be leaving guys out of the rotation even though they've been good in the past or have a chance to be good in the near future.
For the guys that have been good in the past, but we're not sure about for the now and the future (Soroka, Anderson), we'd probably be wise in flipping them while they still have value.

Must be another storm coming. Delayed start to and there’s no rain right now. But they’re not putting the tarp out so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Sun is shining but they’re putting the tarps back out. Hopefully the bad stuff doesn’t last long when it gets here.

I'm fine w/flipping Anderson, but I wanna hold on to Soroka. I fear that we'll rue the day we let him go.

Yeah sun is out no rain haven’t left my seat for 30 minutes. Completely dry
