Good morning Braves faithful. Walt spoke after the game last night and two things I wanted to post here below:
- Ronald will not play during this homestand but likely back once we hit the road again although he didn’t confirm the latter
- He spoke on a six man rotation and how it will work moving forward and to summarize since it was a long answer it’s very situationally based and multi factorial. How many games played without an off day, trying to keep guys stretched out, who does want to pitch on normal rest like Elder and who whenever possible takes an extra day like Sale.
My thoughts are though after Holmes blow up last night, and Fuentes dominating it’s my opinion those two will switch their current roles with Holmes being almost solely a pen long man and Fuentes being that 6th starter
Finally at the 1/4 mark of the season Olsons MVP campaign is in full swing and likely should be the favorite atm.
He is 5th in baseball in OPS but first in the national league, 2nd in the NL in HR behind schwaurber, 1st in the NL in RBIs, tied for first in the NL in runs with Baldwin and James wood, 1st in the MLB in doubles; and plays on the best team in the league

If those are the options, I'd rather continue with Fuentes in the pen and Holmes as the 6th starter.
We need Fuentes to get as many reps as possible because we're going to need him in the pen come postseason. Holmes as the 6th starter just went more than a week without pitching, we can't let that happen with Fuentes.
