Apparently they want young starting pitching.

I think that's why the Braves are mentioned as a favorite. It would be some of the guys in the mix for that 5th spot. Plus, maybe some of the younger arms.

Yet, you go on to whine the next 4 pages about losing the worst offender of this very philosophy you’re complaining about.

It's hilarious how in your head I am.

I only complained about losing Dansby once we found out it that he would've taken less money.

I said from the beginning on here that I don't really want Dansby back unless we got a good deal on him. If you want receipts, go back and read the last 4 pages of this thread.

Stop being a bitch and actually try and see the forest through the trees of what I've been saying. Instead you just get mad whenever I post something. If you don't like what I'm saying, don't read it, but nothing I've said in here has been flippant or emotional at all. It's all been sourced or with thought-out reasons to back up the points that I'm making. It's fine that you don't agree with it, I don't expect everyone to, but stop acting like I have an axe to grind against the team.

Like I said in the main MLB thread last night, one of these days people will learn that the off-season winners rarely win jack shite. There are numerous examples in both the NFL and MLB to back me up. It's window dressing and a large contingent of fans fall all over themselves when big signings happen.

And w/that payroll, anything short of a WS title for the Mets will be a failure.

Trying to make your team better is not window dressing.

Also, the goal for the Mets is to win a World Series, so they should have the mindset that anything short of that is a failure. We should have that same goal.

I really don't care for his thoughts on Fried.

But I do know if/when we let him walk for nothing 2 offseasons from now, we'll be getting a bunch of "Trust in AA" posts without any rhyme or reason for why. Financial flexibility is cool and all, but it only means something to the fans if the organization actually does something with the flexibility to help the team win. If the whole reason to be flexible is to make the ownership group money by cutting down on expenses to maximize the revenue on ticket and Battery sales, then you shouldn't be owning a team.

When most people say something dumb, they are embarrassed and try to hide it if they can.

You repeat it and emphasize it.

I truly don’t think there is anyway you actually think some of the stuff that you type.

Yes, the off-season champ doesn’t always win. But they give themselves a hell of a better chance.

Here's a post from SteelersBravesDawgs in this very thread:

quote:

Dansby has got incrementally better offensively every year and finally put it together the last 2 seasons.

All you people wanting him gone will be the first ones on here melting when he's somewhere else and we have a below-replacement level player at short.

And another

quote:

Grissom is not who you want at SS if you are still in a championship window.

And now he's saying it doesn't matter that we lost Dansby and are rolling with Grissom at SS. It's all just window dressing. He makes this board so much worse. He has his takes, but once he realizes his takes will be wrong, he conveniently begins to parrot the company line and act like he understands what the organization is doing.

Still, I think it's fair to say we've gotten worse as a team this offseason.

That's not fair to say, at all. If you assume Acuna struggles like he did last year, and if you assume that Ozzie misses over half the season and also plays like arse in the half he does play, then yeah...that would be a fair statement.

That's also assuming no sophomore slump from Harris or Strider. And no other injuries. And Grissom is more like the early Grissom and not the late Grissom. Lots of what ifs for both arguments.

And that Grissom can play SS at a Major League level when the last time he played SS, he graded out near the bottom... in Double-A.

The Braves are a better team today than at seasons end.

Nah. But they are a lot better than they were coming out of spring training last year

The MLB team is better than it was heading into last season, but the farm is waaaay worse.

Last two seasons have been defined by middle of the season moves that gave the team a shot in the arm (retooled outfield via trade in 21, calling up young talent in 22), we don't really have the ammo to do either of those things this season.

We have the ammo to do what we did in 21. We have plenty of Bryce Balls and Pablo Sandovals.

Bryce Ball > Drew Lugbauer

But for real, 2021 was great because we didn't give up any prospects and all of the bargain bin hunting we did ended up turning to diamonds. Can't expect to replicate that, at least to that kind of affect.

2021 we traded pocket lint for an outfield. 2022 we called up dudes who no one viewed as likely contributors coming into the season. We were considered a bottom five farm system even before the Olson trade, but we keep making it work
