Harris wasn't much more highly regarded than grissom is now, but you seem to have already written the latter off as a massive black hole that will sink our season. It's hard to take you seriously when you're already preemptively complaining about losing fried for nothing. Seriously, are you arguing that we should trade the cy young runner up in the middle of our championship window just because in two years he will probably get the third or fourth biggest deal a pitcher has ever gotten?
Michael Harris was a stud.

That's just not true. He definitely was expected to debut this season not last, but he was always viewed as a guy with star potential with 80-grade defensive tools.
Grissom has never been viewed that way.

He was a bad shortstop in double-A, that's just facts. Never said he will sink our season, just that he's a major work in progress that may take more than a year to get comfortable at short. As a hitter, he projects to be a solid piece which is why I said from the beginning that I'd like to see him in LF or at 3B with Riley to LF if it improves our defensive alignment.
Bit of a strawman from you.

Your nega arse isn’t gonna make it to March 30th if you keep this up. You’re gonna have a damn heart attack.
“Hot Carl, here, for 17 years roamed
Hater of all haters,
Hypocritically hated
His once beloved home
Till consumed with his hate
Like towards that damn Elf on the Shelf
He hated so much he said “frick it”
And killed his own self”
You can clean up the cadence as needed.
I, for one, would LOVE to get Reynolds, if only for the lulz. He would take the whole damn farm, and probably Grissom and Soroka too. Steal y’all’s Christmases so hard, he’d make the Grinch seem like an amateur bitch.

Now THAT, sir, is hilarious.

Stop being a bitch and actually try and see the forest through the trees of what I've been saying. Instead you just get mad whenever I post something. If you don't like what I'm saying, don't read it, but nothing I've said in here has been flippant or emotional at all. It's all been sourced or with thought-out reasons to back up the points that I'm making. It's fine that you don't agree with it, I don't expect everyone to, but stop acting like I have an axe to grind against the team.
Tells me to stop bitching, then proceeds to bitch for a bunch of words I don’t care to read.
But it’s only because I know what they say—I’ve read them for 40+ pages in this thread alone. It’s not you personally that aggravates me, though. It’s the cumulative negativity the pervades these threads. The funny thing is, though, that we actually probably agree on most things. We just have different perspectives. I prefer to not see everything in the worst possible light. But I can’t stand the overly optimistic-ness of SteelersCelticsDukeArgentinaDawg either. And you will never see me say anything like “just trust AA.” We all think we’re “realists.” The only difference is I’m right, and you’re all wrong.
Regarding AA, though, I’ve admitted I have no idea how good he is. I think it’s really hard to judge GMs because they all have different resources to work with and mandates from their bosses that we’re not privy to. But I do know he talks a lot after the fact. And I’m not naive enough to believe he’s just “Ol’ Honest Alex,” who just likes letting Braves fans have insight into everything. I think he has an agenda when he says something. Not nefarious necessarily, but there’s a reason why he said Dansby would have taken a lot less to stay a Brave. I don’t know what he meant by that or why he said it, knowing it would piss people off. “A lot less” is relative. $25 million is “a lot less” to me. But I don’t think anyone of us wanted him to give Dansby $152 million. For any number of seasons.
I will say that I think Murphy is a lot better than we’re giving him credit for and will prove to be a huge upgrade over Contreras. And not just defensively—hell, you convinced me of how much more valuable that position could be defensively with the new rules next year. I think he’s gonna be better offensively too. He hits way better away from Oakland and when he’s not hitting 3rd in the lineup.

Kind of like when you called me a whiny bitch and then proceeded to be a whiny bitch.
And I didn't say stop bitching... I said stop being a bitch and get all up in your feels about a different view point than yours. I never said your viewpoint isn't valid, I said you getting all mad that someone disagrees with you isn't valid.
Merry Christmas, friend.

Now see, we totally agree on this. Grissom at short this year terrifies me. He’s not ready, and I’m not sure he’ll ever be. But this was a terrible year to be in the market for a long-term SS unless you were prepared to overpay. I’m not sure there was a realistic deal there to be made. But there was one to be made to upgrade the catcher position, even if it was a year or 2 earlier than we needed to. But it was the year Murphy was being moved, and AA saw a chance and at least upgraded the team there (how much, we’ll see), even if it wasn’t an immediate hole.

Well based on what AA said yesterday, Dansby was prepared to take less than market value to stay in Atlanta. I was steadfast that I didn't want to overpay for Dansby, but if you can keep a gold glove shortstop and clubhouse leader on a relatively cheaper deal, you make that happen, hitting inconsistencies be damned.
Not sure why AA said that because it just makes the franchise seem poor when everybody was fine with Dansby leaving assuming we would've had to overpay like the Cubs did.

I agree with all this too. Except I didn’t interpret it as Dansby would have signed for less than market value, I thought he meant less than what he signed for. Might just be semantics, but still, I’m curious on why he would even say that at all. I’m a bit skeptical on what he was trying to communicate and to whom. Or maybe he was just being honest and talking out of his arse it’s to hear himself talk.
I’m also not convinced Grissom is even ready to hit at the MLB level yet. I think he needs at least a month or 2 in Gwinnett of playing every day. I will admit that the moves the Mets and Phillies have made scare me regarding Grissom. We can’t afford to fall behind 10 1/2 games the 1st half this year while we figure out in Atlanta if Grissom can handle the demands of the 2nd most important position on the field while simultaneously learning to hit big league pitching. I am in the nega camp right there with you on that for sure.

Good. I said I didn’t take it that way. We’re all family here, guy. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
Btw, I honestly don’t take any of this too seriously. I never honestly get worked up in here. This thread is a welcomed respite from the toxicity of the Rant that actually does raise my blood pressure IRL. I’m almost always just fricking around calling you out. But if I cross a line, feel free to call me right back out. Not that you need my permission, obviously.

Grissom will put up better numbers than Dansby this coming season.
