We seem to be getting of a lot of arms, have to be brining in someone big like Nola
God I hope it's something better than Nola. I swear it seems like he's only an ace level pitcher when he pitches against the Braves.

The only thing I think you can assume is we’re about to open the checkbook and go buck wild in Free agency…. What else could be going on?

Hate it for Wright. 20 game winner for the best organization in baseball. Now to the trash heap.

Yeah I don't want Nola either.
He gives up way too many HR's

Well this has been an interesting 48 hours or so.
I have no idea what AA’s plan is and it may blow up in his face, but he certainly can’t be criticized for resting on his laurels and running it back with 104-win team. People wanted changes. Well, we’re certainly gonna get ‘em.
Should be a wild hot stove season.

People are gonna bitch regardless.

Hate it for a local kid in wright. But based on his injury history, very likely he never pitches meaningful innings ever again. Similar to soroka, you trade him and get something.
Either way he was about to be released before you pay any increase in arb.

I think that's a bit of a stretch.

Phillies in agreement with Nola..7 years 170-175 mill.
Probably took a discount for them but still glad we didn't try to get involved for that sort of contract.

Holy shite. If Nola is getting that kind of deal, the starting pitching market is going to be bonkers this offseason.

The Atlanta Braves were a real threat to poach Aaron Nola. But as negotiations with Nola and his agents, Joe Longo and Garrett Parcell, went on, the Phillies stepped up and gave out their biggest contract for a pitcher and 11th biggest ever.
@BNightengale
was on top of things.
This is encouraging.

Nice to drive up the price for a rival

Kinda like how you were bitching up a storm during last season anytime someone brought up the possibility of trading Soroka, huh?
Guess you gotta bitch about AA now

I guess, but it also drove up the price for any other starter we go after now
