To be fair, I don't know how that's a mistake by AA. There's no way you can plan to be missing two of your top 3 pitchers by the end of the season.
Like even if we do sign a Gray or Nola, it's not like they aren't susceptible to injuries.

Bowman says Braves working on trades and could include Kyle Wright.

Braves trade Kyle Wright to Royals for Jackson Kowar.

Seriously what the frick is happening?

Kowar has an option remaining and I assume this tells you Wright was going to be non tendered.
Kowar has good stuff but I am not exactly anticipating much from him. Braves really value options for those 12th/13th pitchers so seems like they think a full year between Gwinnett and Atlanta and maybe they can turn nothing into something. Not being willing to commit $ to Wright tells you they are definitely spending significant $ on a starter imo.

Kowar out of options so does he just get DFA'd?
Edit: Bowman saying he does have an option now.
This is wild lol the crescendo to all of this is gonna be impressive....right?

It almost has to be, else I have no idea what the endgame is.
Surely, we could've gotten something better for Wright unless we are looking to free up money for big moves.

They were only gonna have to commit $1.5 mill to keep him, don’t understand this one

He was likely going to miss all of 2024.
Still... think we could've gotten better value in return.

We seem to be getting of a lot of arms, have to be brining in someone big like Nola
Posted on 11/17/23 at 7:48 pm to dawgfan24348
Hope it's not Nola.
Give me Montgomery or Snell if we are trying to make a splash. Nola seems like he is fading. Lot of innings on that arm past two years especially.

What this says is the Braves don’t believe Wright will ever be the guy he was for 1 season. He was mediocre before that season and mediocre/injured after.
Just because we traded names we know doesn’t mean we lost anything. There are tons of guys to take chances on and the Braves know Shuster, Soroka, Wright better than anyone and they decided to send them away, what more do we need to know? Actions tell the story.

We have to do whatever we can to take full advantage of this 3 year window coming up. Wright wouldn’t pitch at all next year and would be eased back in in 2025. We can’t have that. He’s Soroka 2.0 imo. I’d rather ship him out than risk that again.

I kinda feel bad for Soroka but it was the right move, he's never gonna be 2019 himself again.

AA blowing the pitching staff up. Wow.

Same thing is likely with Wright. I’m not so sure it’s all because of injuries. A lot of pitchers have one great year with great lineups supporting them. Injuries or not.

10 open 40 man spots is crazy. Should be an interesting few months.
