Paying more attention to this today since I wasn't going to let this ruin my Monday.
I'm struggling with understanding, if this "cheating" was so bad and so rampant, why are the only two people suspended, those who were arguably the furthest away from it?
I understand WHY Hinch and Luhnow were suspended (although I think Lunnow getting a year is insane). But I don't understand why other players and coaches, the ones involved, didn't get any suspensions.
This smacks so much of Bountygate. Most teams do it... Astros got caught because of a disgruntled person. Meanwhile, in Bountygate, all the player suspensions were eventually thrown out due to lack of evidence... Manfred didn't even both suspending players here... which tells me there is a lack of evidence.
So, how can MLB say these two knew about the program, didn't stop it, didn't participate in it, and not suspend any of the actual participants?
Just like Bountygate allowed Rog to show he was really in charge, this is Manfred's first chance as commissioner to show he's the HNIC.

Astros fans lol.
This is like going out to the bar with your buddies and they all go home with 10s and you go home with a 1.
Then your argument is "doesn't matter had sex". Maybe so, but ain't nobody giving you a high five over that one "champ".

Their series "win" is officially tainted, if it isn't vacated altogether.

Starts.
Doesn't end at the top.
Now, if these two ordered other players / staffers to cheat, then I would understand, but that didn't happen. This was a bottom-up operation.
EDIT: LINK

Manfred's report named Beltran as one of the players involved in the scheme, though the league did not discipline him because it gave players immunity in exchange for their testimony.
That choice registered publicly as another curious part of Manfred's ultimate decision. What sort of disciplinary action clears players for a "player-driven" scheme? The answer is a practical one. Between the well-defined lines that held GMs and managers responsible and the fear of the Major League Baseball Players Association defending any discipline against active players and sending the cases into grievance hell, Manfred's pragmatism here, though not satisfying, is understandable.
So Manfred knew he probably wouldn't get any discipline out of the players, so he turned them into snitches.

A championship was awarded yesterday in the hours after this news. It still wasn't the Dodgers.

I don’t get firing them - do what the saints did with bountygate: have a shite year and then you get your coach back.

Is the Saints owner butt buddies with Obama like the Astros owner?
If not, then there's your answer.

It's as valid as the 1972 USSR's basketball title.

I bet you just draw up in knots when you’re the only person of your race in room. Makes you uneasy... all those people around. After all, if you’re going to get angry and stereotype by a little thing like fandom, race probably really gets under your skin.
How simple you are.
