I mentioned this a few times in the game thread Wednesday when the wheels were flying off the cart. The Nationals had every single thing go their way that night...and it was their 8th straight post season win. They were getting all the RISP hits, all the balls were falling their way, etc. I agree with your logic that the hot teams win, but what they were doing just could not continue. It was no longer sustainable unless the Astros just flat out quit, which I knew they would not do.
