Being forced to register as a sex offender is usually game over. You're much better off doing 5 years and getting out than walking around with the sex offender label.
you are still required to register as a sex offender even if you serve time for the offense. It's not a "pick one" type of deal

quote:Fair enough. I hold the opinion that a high school aged person, who repeatedly puts his hands inside a 4-6 year old family member for a period of 3 years, is not normal mentally and can not be fixed.
i think you underestimate how common molestation cases are and way over-estimate rape rape cases
the problem is the data typically includes both (even for adult charges) so it's probably not possible to really separate the rate of either
And no data presented has even touched on that really.

I meant do time for a different offense
Registering as a sex offender is exponentially worse than a relatively short prison sentence.

the point is that registration is a life-ender in itself
doing time is better than registration. think about that
it's way too powerful of a tool and abused a great deal by our CJ system

As a juvenile his records are sealed, or supposed to be.

OSU's top pitcher was 15 years old when the crime occurred in his family's home in Puyallup, Washington, according to court documents obtained last week by The Oregonian/OregonLive through a public records request. Juvenile court records in Washington, unlike in Oregon, are not automatically confidential.

. Heimlich registered as a sex offender in Benton County after arriving at Oregon State. When he was cited in April for missing an annual update, it put the case in Oregon court records for the first time.

But Washington considers the type of crime Heimlich committed to be so serious that the records are not confidential for juvenile offenders. And since 1997, Oregon has required people convicted of felony sex offenses elsewhere as juveniles to register as sex offenders here.

But dont you agree it is absolutely necessary to garner any true hypothesis?

Guy is a Pedo, and i love that the losers from the State of Oregon are defending them.

If one wanted to garner any true hypothesis based on data, age of criminal, age of victim, and type of crime absolutely need to be broken out seperately

i imagine most people defending a baseball player from OSU are not from Portland or Eugene and are much more likely to look like this

juvenile is different than adult prosecutions
most juvenile cases end in probation, especially a first offense. the policy around juvenile prosecutions centers around rehabilitatio
shite like this typically gets transferred over into criminal court.

This is what's wrong with America at the moment. Some people can't even look at an issue as deplorable as child molestation without doing so through a partisan lens.

The victim's mother said she does not keep tabs on Heimlich but knows he's one of the top players in the United States. She said her daughter was young enough that "she doesn't really remember everything that happened," but nonetheless has been ostracized from family events because most members of the Heimlich family have sided with Luke.
"He got two years of counseling and classes," she said. "My daughter's life has been changed for the rest of her life."
Man, that aunt or whoever is PISSED
And rightfully so of course

well it's also a sports player, so the odds of these people being liberal goes way down b/c of that
liberals are much more likely to hate sport and accuse him of being privileged, which led to his "light" sentence

This.
I just spoke about this topic with a liberal coworker and they were of the opinion that "the only reason people are defending his behavior is because he is an athlete."
