Is this just an early flash in the pan story at 9-2? They started hot last year as well but this team is a totally different unit. I'm sure they will go their 18th straight year without making the playoffs still. I just hope their young pieces from the off-season trades will set them up for future success.

They have some decent bats but their success is unsustainable

Weren't the Mets like 13-3 to start the season last year before nose diving?

Seemed like they were an absolute lock to at least make wild card with how well they played in the first few months last season. After completing that meltdown in the 2nd half I told myself I’m never trusting them again til they get over that hump

Very, very impressed that they’ve managed a 9-2 start after trading away basically all of their best players besides Haniger in the offseason though

It's obviously so early, it's tough to tell if they really are good. They've been doing some work with the bats, but I'm not sold on their pitching and they've already committed 16 errors.

The weekend series with the Astros coming up will be interesting to watch.

Try to keep up. Fing Kelix made the team out of spring training and is currently 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 20 K’s. Cy Young is a formality at this point.

They’re pretty good. If they win the division, it will be because Luhnow refused to trade any “untouchables” and the Stros aren’t good enough at catcher, DH, or starting pitching.

Mariners fan here. I don’t expect the team to make the playoffs they have us on a like 4-5 year rebuild plan. However, I think a lot of credit has to go to the coach. He got smart and removed Felix from the 1 spot in the rotation. He actually got bumped down to the three spot in the rotation. Think with where he is in his career that three spot helps his career. Think if Gonzalas and Kikuchi can keep giving solid starts at 1 and 2, Hernandez is getting more comfortable in the three spot and Leake in the four. It comes down to can these batters keep up this insane run support? Bullpen is the biggest question mark at this point.
