Is GaSouthern one of the triple option teams? I know the SoCon had like 3 of them.

Yep, Wofford and Citadel are the others.

GSU won six national titles running the triple option.

Boone is a great town, App State has a great campus. Good for them.

They have a very passionate fanbase in North Carolina. They LOVE college football. They'll pack that place for Sun Belt games.

For sure, they deserve to make the move up.

So now GA State and Southern are in the Sun belt?

KSU is still looking for a conference?

I'm guessing Southern realized it needed to jump up a division to stay appealing now that state/ksu decided to pursue football.

Who will the SEC teams play from Div 1AA now? I hope it's not Savannah State

That's a very small part of it, but the money and exposure factor is about 95% of it. Fact is you get a lot more money and exposure playing FBS over FCS.

LSU is scheduled to play Georgia Southern in 2014. Should be a good game (for a while at least).

Excited about these adds for football but I hope they start to invest more into basketball soon.

It is just interesting that they waited until today (after both KSU and GaState joined) to make the move. It's not like they just realized today they could make more money...

This move has been in the works well before Georgia State or KSU had football programs. This isnt jsut something they up and decided to do today. The vote on whether to pass fees onto the students for a move up to FBS was last year.

Make no mistake, this move was about money and exposure as it has been seen that way for many years now. Georgia Southern doesnt recruit the Atlanta area as much as you probably think.

And App St is decent. It's a bitch to get to Boone, NC though.

My first time going there with my buddy I was wearing shorts and t-shirt when we left GSU, it was in the 80s there. We got to the base of the mountain where Boone/App State is, still in the low 70s, comfortable.

We got to the university at the top and by game time it was in the 40s, windy and raining.

Not really... get off of I40 and stay on 321 all the way up. Boone is maybe 45 minutes, max, off of interstate.
