And the last one to seal the deal...."@darrenrovell: Ravens president Richard Cass worked at WilmerHale, which is heading the Rice investigation, for 31 years (H/T @TMM75)"
Team cover up is on the scene.

So what exactly is the investigating about? What are we trying to uncover thats really important?
It changes what?
This a stiff arm to a PC witch hunt.

Could you PLEASE stop with this Liberal P.C. Conspiracy bullshite.
The people on here who want him gone don't care completely about the Ray Rice case. They want him gone because this CONFIRMS a pattern of lies and incompetence with Roger Goodell that goes all the way back to Spygate and includes Bountygate, the lockout, and the replacement officials.

When you're the law and order commissioner, the process in which you investigate matters. If you lose legitimacy to law down the law, you lose almost all of your standing. Think he will have the leverage to dominate the NFLPA next time the CBA is up if the public doesn't trust him at all?
Though personally I'm a Saints fan and am enjoying the pitchfork mob. I'm irrationally bitter...so frick him.

Winner.

Took a page out of Obama's playbook: just let the investigation go on for a while and everybody will cool off
The NFL should've done this with concussions, redskins, refgate, spy gate, the original reaction to the tape, everything and had the goodwill cache to do so and not take a dent
Now it's too late. They in ediaty, lied, then doubled down on CBS and now have really dug in. There is going to be a lawsuit from ray rice and NFLPA because he was suspended again under the claim of "new evidence" but we all know it wasn't new" that means testimony, subpoenas (even for their sham investigator) and a lot of shite coming out that will damage the shield
This is going to get even uglier and the road ahead is fraught with danger of the NFL being busted again even more embarassingly for lying about this and other things.
Add to the situation that the fans want blood, the media smells blood and this thing isn't going away
They can bunker down and it will only get worse for them. The owners are about to drag themselves into the spotlight as enablers and accomplices to this unless they terminate goodell or get him to resign
If they're stalling for time than they're overconfidence and arrogance is astounding. This is here to stay until either the NFL 100% exonerates itself from public suspicion or goodell is going to get canned. The former is impossible and any further exploration will only be worse for them.
In the end, goodell is gone

In the court of public opinion Goodell has zero credibility left. His dick swinging power will be challenged at every turn by the fans. If the fans start to turn on the nfl then the owners will turn on Goodell. It seems its just a matter of time when it will happen now.

It's almost shocking to see how out of touch this organization truly is with the fans and society
They think their product is invincible, sponsors now have some leverage and they're about to find out how mistaken they are
They think we love their product. Why shouldn't they? Look at the revenue, but they are short term thinkers. Tagliabue did this. Rome wasn't built in a day, and it won't be destroyed in a day. Goodell is weakening the foundations and things like this prove it .
No one, NO ONE believes them, and not just because they got busted lying. They got busted lying because no one believed them. No one believed them from the get go because of the goodwill and integrity that's been eroding for 8 years now.
Sponsors who've been squeezed for every penny are about to try and get some money back. If they pull now the NFL can't handle the bad PR and increased attention, or potential domino effect. The NFL will be squeezed and the owners will see it
Again, when this is over...goodell is gone

He had none to begin with. He has a negative balance in the goodwill account
Now he's being crucified. This is the tipping point. If he somehow survives this the league is in trouble

Good to know Dan Rooney and John Mara are spearheading the "independent" investigation

yeah, now the owners are treating us like we're stupid...I'm done with the NFL and the Saints. There's only so much I can take...for years now I've felt guilty for not being able to stop watching, for watching a league run by a person I loathe from an ethical and moral perspective.

Do you get this charged up over things in this world that actually matter?

I'm not charged up. I was wildly interested in this story and still am, but I'm changing the channel...this is an entity to which I willingly give money, so I'm exercising my vote.
and like my actual voting right, it won't matter.

I don't even listen to Rush Limbaugh anymore but you should see a link on facebook about this story.. He sees the Liberal agenda like I do on this ordeal...
I am not in the minority view point...Thousands of Rush followers agree what is happening.
What we have here on this board is a community of Saints fans who hate Roger prior to this BS story.
You and I don't have all the facts and are not privileged to have sat in on the conversations Roger had with Ray and his wife/ and attorney, the Ravens etc.
It matters!!! you guys are spewing hate and casting judgement on the commissioner with little to no inside information...
When the wolves come out, sure- you are going to say as little as possible and be careful what you say. Many interpret that as lying I suppose?
if he did lie what he knew, he can still clean it up depending

I am wildly excited at the thought this is the end of goodell, charged up I take it to mean angry and mad, these have been the best days of football in years.
Anyway,
It's pretty clear with the "external" wink wink investigation that the owners haven't gotten the message. I think now their ear is to the ground, they can hear the stampede...in the meantime, I'm finally to the place where I can't watch anymore...they treat us like we're retards, best case scenario drug addicts.

I think after the investigation is over and the dust settles, Goodell will still be commisioner.
However, I think you'll see Goodell give up his power of player discipline. You'll see the NFL create a "Head of Player Discipline" position, similar to Brendan Shanahan's role with the NHL. Who they place in that role, I have no idea.

Sure you are...you "can't take it anymore" and somehow the NFL is "insulting your intelligence". You are going to stop watching the NFL. That's charged up.
In the end, he botched an investigation into a domestic battery case. Not point shaving, game fixing, gambling, collusion, or anything else related to the legitimacy of the games being played.
MLB and the NBA have survived far more egregious violations that have directly impacted the product on the field/court.
