I'm laughing my arse off that the NFL or anyone else deems itself so important they are calling in a former FBI director over this.
There's just something about it that's ridiculous
Given the ridiculous amount of tax breaks and public subsidies the NFL receives, the person who investigates needs to be used to looking at major organisations and be a heavyweight.

Didn't Roger the Dodger call for an independent arbitrator in Bounty-gate, Paul Tagliabue? Tags came back to say Roger Fu***d up.
yet nothing was done, the only way anything will happen is for the owners to vote him out and I doubt that'll happen.

So this "independent" investigation will be overseen by Giants owner John Mara, who has already stated Goodell won't lose his job over this and Rooney who endorsed him for the position in the first place.
This should be good

And there's more
"@darrenrovell: Robert Mueller works for WilmerHale, which has represented the NFL in its Sunday Ticket deal w/DirecTV."
"@darrenrovell: The #2 lawyer at the NFL, Jay Bauman, took the job at the NFL after leaving WilmerHale, which will now investigate the league."

The gift that keeps on giving. They should take Thursday off, relax, inhale, and come back Friday with some better plans.

You mean the old guard, as in the Mara's and the Rooney's?
Now they're just trolling us.

This new investigation is a joke.
The whole thing could be settled in a day.
The female NFL employee on voicemail knows what she did. Chris Mortenson was told by someone in the NFL about the video. He knows who told him. Other reporters were told the same.
You would literally have to talk to two people to figure this out.

Why would Chris Mortenson give up his source?

Because his source has hung him out to dry.
If it wasnt for other reporters corraborating Mortenson's info, Mort would look like a complete fool. Luckily for him, the NFL has made themselves the fools throughout.

I just have a hard time seeing anybody in his position doing that. His other sources still need to believe he won't rat them out.
