what do you want to know about rugby? As I posted in the other thread, that is where most of my disposable income goes...

I think from the info provided in this thread I've got a really good idea of what's going on and some great materials to read up on to help me learn more of the ins and outs...at this point I think my focus will be more on positions and who does what etc...I'm sure at some point I'll be able to come up with more questions as I learn more about the game. I'm just one of these people that has to understand what I'm watching to make it really enjoyable.

Rugby 2001 PC game

I had a rugby game for my PS2 a few years ago I used to play all the time. I think me and a couple of the guys I played with were the only ones who had it though

Is it available on xbox 360?

Also, here's a site that shows some rugby highlights and stuff, pretty cool and it always helps to watch the best players in the world play the game LINK /

I watched about 3/4 of that video and those dudes are fricking crazy. In Rugby (union?) there are penalties for high tackles, right? What constitutes a high tackle...above the waist or shoulders or...?

I'm the same height, but i have about 25-30 lbs on you, and sometimes more than that. I would say you're probably a back at that weight and with the above average speed. I play hooker (forward), but I would say I have average speed and above average lower and upper body strength. There's literally a place for everyone on a rugby field as long as you don't mind a little contact

ETA: Doldil a tackle above the shoulders constitutes a high tackle in rugby union. Also, you cant shoulder charge or tip-tackle (picking up and dumping a guy on his shoulders/head)

If you are at all a gamer pick up EA's Rugby World Cup 2008 or this. You will learn the rules quickly.

I am not.

Do yourself a favor if you go out to train with a team give it two weeks and or one game. If you are in great shape you will struggle with fitness -- it is very different-- if you are not even more so but your body will respond. Don;t quit after 1-2 sessions.

It isn't a game that you aren't sure you like or not. You will love it or go back to watching TV.

Bad advice. Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge is much better in every way.

Rugby Challenge is a lot of fun, I've been playing it quite a bit recently. Although trying to play it on Steam with a PS3 controller has made it kind of difficult. I need to pick up a windows xbox controller I think.
