I wouldn't call the Cajuns hiring Rebow to replace Napier as "horrible"; however, it's not the ideal route. Maybe if they don't find another young Napier during the initial search, Rebow could be brought in as a head coach to be a bridge until a younger, aggressive candidate is found.

Rebow brings stability and discipline.

But I'd prefer the Cajuns continue the philosophy of a young, hungry, detailed oriented coach who is wanting that head P5 gig.

Agree. I have tons of respect for him, as do many Cajun football fans. If you look at the program Hud ran, went into a much more aggressive decline after Rebow left for the Nicholls job.

Exactly. And Rebowe coached at Louisiana before so I wouldn't be at all surprised if he does end up there at some point.

By the way Southeastern are 9.5 point favorites and will host McNeese while Nicholls, favored by 22, is bringing this momentum with them into Nachitoches to play the Demons of NSU. Both are at 6:00 PM.

FWIW The Southern Jags, with the Jukebox and all will play their only game on the Bluff in this adjusted 2021 spring schedule against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. They are 1-0 after beating Alabama State on the road last FRIDAY 24-21.

last playoffs they had to travel to N. Dakota St. in December. Would be nice if N. Dakota St. had to travel to Thibodaux in May

You do realize the game was played indoors?

completely forgot about that whoops
Of course the one person on this site from Fargo shows up in here to correct me...

point still being spring playoffs should be an advantage for teams down here. 90's in May is no joke for a visiting team from up north...

Then again I doubt NDSU will ever have to worry about traveling in post season.

Of course they played indoors in Fargo. They also went to Eastern Washington in Dec 2018 in the second round.

Headed out to the game in Natchitoches on Saturday.

Nichols is probably gonna push Northwestern State's shite in but Fork'em Demons!

That one was outside. I remember having to go up to Montana in Barbier’s 2nd year as HC. It was snowy and we got steamrolled 55-3 or something like that.

Honestly Nicholls was in the game with NDSU and had a few bad calls go against them. NDSU took advantage and broke away late in the 3rd quarter.

Don’t forget, Nichols almost beat Florida a few years back. I believe it was a muff punt away at the end that decided it.

Love Rebowe, good guy and great family.

In Rebowes tenure at Nicholls they have lost two very close games on the road at Georgia and at Texas A&M. They have beaten Kansas on the road. He has built a consistent winner at Nicholls and the teams have improved every year. This team is special though, in my opinion it is the deepest, most talented team ever on that campus. I'm not stating that we will the national title this year but every year he is there we are getting closer.

Yup. You don't go from a resume that Billy Napier had prior to taking the job, to someone like Rebowe's resume. He's good at Nicholls, but that's his ceiling

They were up on Georgia in the 4th. The next year they gave A&M a good game until the 4th, and the next year beat Kansas.

what has he done that makes you think that?

ETA: Napier's resume involved 0 head coaching experience. Yes he was an assistant at some big name programs but des that out weigh actual head coaching experience?

It's what he hasn't done. He hasn't separated himself from the rest of the FCS.

Yes. A P5 coordinator will always be preferred over a FCS HC.

4 years ago that might not have been the case, but after the job Napier has done, you don't go the FCS route

You are correct. Sorry, wrong team. He is my buddy’s uncle so we always watch the games he coaches.

But yes they did give AM and Georgia a run for their money as well.
