I haven't listened to that one yet. The only NBA ones I've listened to are the BS ones with House, Ryan, and other dudes. Simmons has definitely gone with a disproportionate number of female writers/podcasters for a site that is supposed to be sports heavy.

I know that there was a big hullabaloo over his joining The Ringer, but I honestly don't remember him from Grantland. He must not have done NBA/NFL/film, which is all I cared about from Grantland and all I want from The Ringer.

The vast majority of his Grantland articles were about entertainment, specifically movies.

Just looked up his Grantland articles. A lot of them look interesting, but I don't think I've read many, if any. But based on what I've seen him writing about, I suspect that he had a significant part in the week-long Boogie Nights coverage, which was awesome.

Be prepared to just look at your podcast player a couple of times. One of the NFL guys ranked Aaron Rodgers as the 6th best QB.

I want to see the Ringer after November. Literally everyone us interjecting politics into everything. Hell, the Barstool guys were bitching about Milo.

BBallBreakdown is posting anti-Trump stuff on twitter. They're a fricking analytics/film site. Why do people have to go out of there way to enjoy purely sports/entertainment info without?

I gave it three tries during the NBA finals. Instead of actual analysis, I felt like I was listening to the verbal version of Twitter reactions. I was extremely disappointed. I listen to Pardon My Take for comical sports nonsense. I was expecting a lot more insight from the NBA Ringer podcast, and they just didn't provide it. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt for being new, but it was one of the biggest finals in nba history, and they did a bad job of covering it.

I really wish they made alternative accounts for their politics and realize that like 99% of people who follow them don't follow that account. No one cares.

Yeah Shackhouse is the only one I listen to anymore. It seems with Simmons' HBO show he hasn't been doing as many podcasts anymore. Then the Watch is awful with Chris Ryan and Andy Greenwald giggling at each other. Jonathan Tjarks ruins the NBA ones.

I've only visited the site a handful of times and never really found any interesting articles.

I really liked grantland, always thought the articles were well written with strongly backed arguments or ideas. The Ringer really does smell of SJW bullshite though. They've got some writers I really liked, so i'll see how it continues. I don't like the views that have felt pushed on some articles. If you want to make a article about how someone is treated unfair then do it, don't hide behind some othere reason or article.

I agree on the SJW stuff. The Alton sterling article was a joke. 0 articles about the slain police officers as well. As was the "ghostbusters will be an American classic and if you don't think so you're sexist" article

My other issue is how short the damn articles are. I know this was a strategic move by their part but it feels like another attempt by Simmons to act younger than he is. The articles never have any substance. They come up with very interesting headlines, or just catchy ones, then give you two paragraphs basically repeating the title 5 times and never actually making any points. Who does that sound like? fricking buzz feed that's who.

And it's to the point where only Bills NFL/NBA podcasts are listenable but there are 800 frickin podcasts a day so you 1) get bombarded with notifications and tweets about new podcasts and 2) the ones you're actually interested in get lost in the shuffle

"The watch" guys are just insufferable and I can't believe they gave them an HBO show.

Also their site layout is terrible and clunky. You go to the podcast page and it freezes up because there's 300 podcasts trying to load

It's a shame. He's very sharp and can write great, in-depth pieces. Just has a voice for print.
