Attention whores aside, I doubt many people are truly "truly upset" over it. I would be shocked if any members of the MSB cancelled plans, took a bereavement day off of work, bawled themselves to sleep or passed up sex with the old lady because of this.

This is ultimately where I stand as well

I think people are saying they are “truly upset”, when they actually mean they just took a moment to reflect on life/family/childhood etc

Anyone who is truly upset to the point of true grieving, I still take pause with

You said for me to keep that same energy to the guy who said he couldnt care less than i did to the people who said they cared so much.

I literally said i COULD care less (meaning i care some) and that im sure the guy is actually lying and exaggerating about how little he cares.

Thats literally the same energy and exactly what you said i should do.

I wasn't a fan either but it's still terrible.

Worst pary eas when the Pels game went to a commercial break. They showed Kobe and I just thought "that sucks" but the last one they showed was him and Gigi.

Also having a hard time because the youngest is a baby.

Funny though, that you didn't bother to call that guy out, but you did call out people on other social media who aren't even posting on this board the things you're mad about.

I get what you were saying, but it is kinda weird we are basically saying not being as good at basketball makes you dying tragically with your daughter not as upsetting

But that would be for a thread on the human element. Too much to unpack for Monday

The guy posted like 2 mins prior...my b. lol.

I also dislike one more than the other.

Just like you with the values of the lives of Kobe and Mehmet Okur.

This, the worship of famous people we have in this society is sickening and unhealthy.

It sucks for his family, but other than that, his death has no affect on my life at all. I didn’t know him.

No.

Can you just ask me about my whole post instead of pussyfooting one line at a time?

I am not equally annoyed by people acting like they dont care about something as i am about people acting like they care too much. There. that covers it.

It's human nature.

It's the same reason you'd take your mother's death harder than your 2nd cousin that you're not THAT close with.

The fact that you've never met the basketball players does't change the comparison. One you have more of an emotional investment with. As I've said a few times, if you're a huge hoops fan you've spent 100s of hours watching/discussing this guy. Of course it's gonna hit you a bit harder than that other basketball player no one ever really cared about on the basketball court.

You've spent way more time discussing Kobe's death than if it was any random basketball player that someone may post and get 6 replies. We're all doing the exact thing I'm talking about right now.

It doesn't make one death sadder than the other.

I was at the Royal Rumble in Houston yesterday. Usually before wrestling events, there’s a bunch of wrestling fans outside the arena generally acting like goofy idiots in a mostly jovial way—you know that kind of atmosphere—but yesterday it was eerily quiet on the street. If I knew nothing and was observing it, I’d know that all these people had heard some bad news.

This conversation seems to be above your level of understanding.

Sadly, I don't even say that to be an a-hole. You truly don't seem to be able to grasp what I'm saying, for whatever reason.

And what I'm saying is as logical as it gets and is just simple human nature. it should be something you should understand.
