Do we know that he was a loving respected father? I've seen some pretty shitty human beings whose children still loved them. My older sister was once married to one.

For the family it's almost going to be like joining the Federal Witness Protection Program. To have any chance of a normal life they are going to have to change their names, her job, the school her kids go to, will probably have to move to a different state, and pretty much say goodbye to all but the most sympathetic (to the family, not him) friends and that's before dealing with the financial ramifications.

Can't even imagine.

I feel terrible for the family. The trickle down effect from something like this can absolutely destroy a family for years and years. Suicide, addictions, financial despair, etc are all very real possibilities. The impact from this can be disastrous and cause a chain reaction of terrible events for an entire family.

Yep. I’ve got family that’s a monster like that. It screws up everyone. His Kids, yep. His parents, definitely. All assuming they didn’t know and all. It even screws up brothers. It screws up the wives of brothers. It screws up brothers kids who have the same name and have to answer questions. It’s a dark cloud that doesn’t go away.

That being said, I still feel worse for victims.

I wouldn’t know how to handle it. Pretty sure I’d disown my father and change my last name.

I feel sorry for sports announcer Gerry Sandusky. Talk about bad luck.
No kidding man.

I'd start going by Gerald or something.

He actually got lucky. He's worked in Baltimore for decades and Penn State was the closest major program, so his station had been doing the "no relation" disclaimer for a long time when the scandal broke.

I don’t know his victims either, I still feel for them and wish it had never happened. For all I know he abused his own children too.
