I have my doubts about that one as well.

You mean the one that was at the goalline 9 yards away with players in between him and the play? That guy?

And how can you look at that picture above and say his foot is on the ground? Is his right foot 5 inches longer than his left foot? They're both at relatively the same angle, but his right is up higher than his left.

go back and watch it .. his head hits the ground just across the goal line, but the ball is at his waist ... it is there because fitzgerald is trying to pull it out ... it didn't cross the goal line ..

Dude they showed like 40 angles of that play, it was a TD.

I'm usually on work during the week at this time, so I'm wondering how in the hell do people watch 1st take? This is has to be the dumbest show on TV. Watching Skip debate this black chick is like watching GCS debate Kige. I don't think either of them have made a point that made any sense. Skip thinks the Cards should have had the ball at the 15 after Warner's fumble? WTF? Not only is he saying it wasn't a fumble but he wanted the refs to advance the ball 35 yards? I know there was a 15 yard penatly after the play but did he want them to tack on 20 more just for the frick of it?

Like Madden said, if he's gonna run it back that far, he deserves the touchdown!

Looked to me like the ball was on the goalline when he was definitively down.

i'm at work too .. i don't watch skip bayless during the day either ... the ball would have been on the 35 with the 15 yard penalty ... dunno where he gets the 15 from ..

Best angle I've seen.

Both feet are down. Has possession. TD.

Thanks to BBATiger for the pic.

It was definitely going forward, but the ball had already been knocked loose.

I don't know what the rule is exactly on that, but the ball was knocked loose, then he shoved it forward without any control.

Is that a fumble?

Yes. He lost control of the ball the moment he was hit. Once he no longer has full control of the ball, it does not matter what his arm does.

no .. if a QB is back to pass and a DL hits the ball as he simultaneously throwing it -- i.e. arm clearly moving forward -- it is not a fumble .. it is a blocked pass ... if the arm has not started its forward motion, then it is a fumble .. he doesn't necessarily have to have "control" of the ball while it is moving forward ... as long as it was clear that he was in the act of throwing ..

the Lineman hit the ball while he was still cocked back, by the time he came forward he had no control of the ball. Fumble GG cards

According to ESPN radio today... The replay official looked at it and said...

1. Warner was hit

2. The ball began to twist in his hand before his arm went forward, so he no longer had control of the football at that point.

3. His arm started to go forward, WITHOUT control of the ball.

That makes it a fumble.

Yep...plus if it WAS a forward pass it was either intentional grounding or illegal touching since the ball bounced off a Cardinals O-lineman. Nobody wants to bring up that point.

It reminds me of the gumps whining about that play in 2000 where our returner got creamed before the ball got there, we recovered, and the zebras initially gave the ball to Bama. Bama fans are mad at the refs for making the right call. Same principle here...the whiners want the refs to say it was a pass but ignore the obvious penalty.

it was bang bang and didn't look a whole lot different than the one that was overturned earlier, imo ..

watch a replay of that play and the one that was overturned and tell me if there was a MAJOR difference .. and besides, the main point is how do you not at least review that play ?
