The stafff and admin should be embarrassed for taking this route and should’ve instead spent their time apologizing to the players and families..

you obviously didn’t read their pleading filed in court they took the position the two players were eligible, and certainly the one who transferred a year and half ago. they also took the position that even assuming ineligible for arguments sake, the complaint by liberty and the lhsaas ruling were both u timely under the bylaws.

Throw in the fact that by LHSAA bylaws, UHigh is responsible for all legal and court fees the LHSAA occurred since they lost the ruling. If they moved forward and lost again. That would be even more costs that were responsible for.

Shame on Liberty for holding on to the complaint until the very last day they could file it, that's a chicken shite move, but it's ultimately Uhigh's fault for not having the forms signed.

The administration, especially the athletic administration, owes everyone associated with the school an apology. The school's reputation has been teetering the last few years as it is and now it's completely smeared across the entire state due to athletics. The days of Uhigh being perceived as an exemplary academic school are gone and it's a direct result of the wants by some to be an athletic powerhouse.

The AD should relinquish his AD duties effective immediately. The wrongs in this situation ultimately fall on him, regardless of who was supposed to sign the forms. The school never got in trouble like this under the previous AD. I feel terrible for the players, especially the seniors, particularly the ones that have been there since kindergarten or elementary school. It's a very harsh punishment handed down to them for the mistakes of the administrators. It's just an extremely disappointing and embarrassing time for the Uhigh community, but hopefully this will serve as an opportunity to get the priorities of the school back in line.

UHigh has one of the top elementary schools in the state. HS beat out BR High in test scores this last year.

I hope it is 500k. They knew they broke the rules, they upset everyone's apple cart over a really bad attempt at winning on a longshot technicality. But this is the world we live in, they were incompetent and yet everyone else had to feel a little pain about it.

Liberty responded as to why they held the complaint for so long-

I'm not saying you are wrong, but do you have a link for this?

I only have anecdotal evidence of several families I know that have pulled their kids out of the lab school due to academic concerns and culture over the past few years.

Among whom is their reputation hurt? People that would never go there regardless and root for other schools to win?

The argument that the players 'should be considered eligible' not that they were eligible. Their legal team also argued that even if they were not eligible, the timing created chaos and here's how we interpret the rule to our benefit.

They may have pushed that first point, but everything I have seen including the most demonstrative arguments by their legal team was this point above. The judge himself ruled that he wasn't granting the injunction because the court's interpretation is the same as the LHSAA's in accordance with the bylaws.

Advocate Article

By the letter of the (by)law these players were ineligible and Liberty and the LHSAA were within reason with their handling. I don't have to agree with it to agree it was correct based on the signed and agreed bylaws. UHIGH should have known. Liberty shouldn't have sat on it. A player living in a district shouldn't be ineligible for multiple calendar years because a school did not return a document.

The right outcome, can be the right outcome even if most agree it doesn't feel right. Everyone knows the rules (or should). It's up to UHIGH to ensure they are only playing players that are eligible.

If the rumors about U-High recruiting Liberty’s players are true, then the timing of it was likely intended to inflict as much harm as possible.

In a somewhat related note, Liberty fired their HC after only one season. His system was certainly not traditional, but Coach Boone did a lot of good for the program in his brief stint. I guess the new principal is serious about football. (my son plays for Liberty).

UHigh was hoping EBR Schools would remove the big problem but fortunately the school board was overrruled when finding the new superintendent for EBR.
