But seriously, I’m almost over this. Davis is a beast but this could be viewed as a Billy King level stupid trade imo.

Something about the Lakers trying to trade with New Orleans always turns into a clusterfrick

Yeah it's almost like Pels don't want to trade with the lakers because

A) they don't have the assets

B) their people have been in AD's fricking ear this whole time telling him to leave.

If you would've listened to people saying that the trade wasn't going to happen during the season, you may feel better about the scenario.

The Draft Lottery is May 14th. At that point we will have a better view of what possible offers are out there. At that point the Lakers will also have not agreed to terms with any new free agents, because that stuff doesn't happen until June. The Lakers offer will still be on the table, an offer from the Knicks will be on the table, and an offer from Boston will be on the table. The reason the Lakers want the trade done now is because they know their assets don't really compete with potential assets from the Knicks, or the real assets from Boston.

Call me a fool, but I wouldn’t do that trade either if I’m the Knicks

it's not just Zion for AD

it's effectively Zion for AD and Kyrie

What if the trade was Zion for AD and Kyrie (because you probably aren't getting Kyrie without AD)?

You think Kyrie or Durant will sign with the Knicks after they say “We had an opportunity to pair you with a top five player in the league but decided we wanted to wait on the rookie to develop into his full potential in four years. Please sign right here”

Woj even said the Knicks are basically major longshots to make a move for Davis unless their 12% odds of getting the #1 pick come to fruition.

Boston, I guess we will see. The Kyrie situation is something to watch and if he walks then what incentive does Ainge have to include Tatum in any trade? Brown/Smart/Rozier isn’t better than the Lakers pieces imo.

From my pov, the Lakers do not have to get this desperate for AD. Yes he should be the #1 target but my god, depleting all the young pieces they tanked for and trading 4 first round picks could blow up in Magic’s face so badly. They have Lebron, a bunch of young, cheap pieces, $40MM in cap space this summer and they do not have a single bad contract on the cap sheet. This type of desperation is not necessary imho

Is that really a guarantee though? Is it really a 2 for 1? Kyrie is flakey as frick.

If it’s both of them, then yes make the deal.

But I don’t think they play together next year

Kyrie has a choice between signing with the Celtics who have already traded for AD or the Knicks who have a rookie in Zion

Which way do you think he goes? It’s a pretty easy choice.

Brown and their 2 non-BOS 1sts > the LAL trade without question. i'd be upset if that's all we got, but relieved we didn't have ball/ingram and all the headache that would cause immediately

where Magic has totally failed is actually working on deals to get value for Ball, Ingram, and Kuzma and use that value to trade to the Pelicans. if this is a legit "even" trade, then those assets on their own should easily net super value for AD

14%

And the Pelicans need to wait until the offseason. Lakers shite sandwich will still be there, in fact it will give them more time to get decent players to send to NOP, Boston will be there with their offer, and NYK could be there as well. Other teams will throw their hat in the ring. 0 incentive to deal now.

I’d consider NYK’s pick plus parts as long as it’s top 3 over anything the Lakers offer.

yeah if my desire to get zion is a 100, RJ is like an 85 and Jah Morant is like a 75

plus we will likely have a top 5 pick of our own

plus we'd get DSJ and likely knox
